Hi guys, I'm argie girl's boyfriend. I'm an american who has been living in Argentina for almost three years. We are moving there in February like she said. We would like to stay for 6 months to a year and maybe more. I had a couple quick questions.
Recently I saw some rentals in playacar phase 2 with the access to the Reef hotel. This looks pretty awesome. Anyone else done similar? Is it too isolated to be without a car? We could buy bikes I suppose. I enjoy cooking, are there reasonable priced and convenient grocery stores near there? We don't go out much but maybe two ~30 yr olds would be too bored there. Opinions? Also argie girl is going to look for a job there. She speaks spanish and english. Should we work on getting the FM3 when we arrive or wait until a company wants to hire her. It's no big deal if she cant find something, but of course she wants to earn her own money however many mexican pesos it is. Jonathan |

Playacar & Shopping
Quote:
There are a few small shops within Playacar, but not likely where you'll do your main shopping to stock up. The Mega or WalMart in town seem to be your best bet for some bulk buys and reasonable prices. We shopped at the Mega based off of recommendations during our last trip, and found it to be quite affordable. I have been told the WalMart is comparatively good to shop at for groceries. Good luck with the move, you two. We're just getting ready ourselves and looking forward to it. P.S. I should mention, we're about as new to Playa as you are, and this is just my info from some research and visiting. We have not lived in Playa previous to our move, so you may get some better or different advice from long term residents. Last edited by loveandrum; 12-28-2011 at 09:40 PM.. Reason: P.S. Addendum |

I would feel isolated without a car in Playacar. Just to go grocery shopping would be a hassle with taxis etc. Plus I like to have a car to be able to go places outside of Playa.
But then I have dogs also, getting them places is almost impossible without a car. Let me know when you guys have arrived! Perhaps we can take a beer or so. ![]() Best of luck on your move! /Dalle |

My husband and I just arrived yesterday, we are 32 and also live in centro. We are both Americans who are considering moving to Buenos Aires after our 5 month stay here. We should get together as well. We also chose downtown over Playacar, for the faster internet speeds, although we do have a car. We drove here from California.
