Add six more raving fans to the growing list! After consulting with Jan at the Luna Blue event in the afternoon, we decided to lead our group of four newbies off into the wilds of the north end in search of Camaron Caramelo.
With Jan's expert directions, we located it easily and I introduced myself to owner Fernando. We were the only customers at that time, so a table for six was no problem. ![]() The ambiance is great. Quiet and comfortable, with pleasant lighting. The service is very attentive. And the food is fantastic. Our party tried the Revolver (a bit spicy for some), Fish and Arracherra Tacos, Carmaron Caramelo x 3 and one Camaron with the Cafe Sauce so Deb and I could cross-taste. Everything was delicious and Fernando is a gracious host. We'll be going back again before we go home.

A good choice. From reading your posts I always thought you to be a pretty smart guy. ![]() We have eaten there several times in the last three weeks and are sorry that we'll have to leave in another 10 days or so. So many places, so little time. Fernando is a very gracious host and his waitress, Florencia, is very efficient and friendly. She's Argentinian and does not look like most Mexicans or Mayans. Her English is a little limited, but she makes up for it in other ways. My only concern is that there are seldom more that two other tables occupied whenever we've been there. C'mon peeps lets get out and support these fine folks. |

We have been to Camaron Carmelos at least 4 times and each time there have been different numbers of people dining there. One of the things that I think is significant is that many Americans and Canadians eat at a much earlier hour than most Mexicans. When we go out it is usually between 6:30 & 7:00 and the other people that are eating there are not local Mexicans. However, we did go once a little later and there were several tables of local Mexicans eating there. I think that in addition to all of us talking him up it is important the the local community support him. His food is wonderful and his enthusiasm for his restaurant is so great we can only wish him success. |

On our list as well. Did any feedback ever show up for the non-fish eaters among us.I did see that he would cook pollo or vegetable dishes-anyone with firsthand experience with these? Always have to try to strike the balance for us you know.
