What a gorgeous condo.

Abandoned mansion by the sea? How weird to see all of that artwork still there? Seems like they would need to protect it?

Maggie, your TRs always make me want to visit other areas in Mexico!

Thanks for reading.

It is weird to see all the paintings there, unmolested (mostly)....I am thinking they must be just knockoffs/copied, so not worth much?

The property was tied up in court battles for a long time between the Mexican gov't and the thief's widow and family, but they recently lost that....I imagine too that nothing could be taken from the home until it was settled...and there is the security guard watching over it.

Thanks for taking the time to read it, Shams.

(and for fixing my title, too! )

When we stayed at the Dorado, it was non AI but you got a $100 a week 'beverage credit', you could use at the piano bar or swim up bar....it was PERFECT as there are several good restaurants there, right across from the hotel strip. Now it went AI just recently, along with the other non AI holdouts there. I imagine that won't be good news for all the restaurants there....it will be a ghost town, mostly just hotels and condos, like Nuevo Vallarta....sad!

I even rode the burro once.

That brings back some memories. I spent 2 weeks a month in Vallarta for 3 years. And WAY too much time at Andales! "Alice? Alice! Who the #%$* is Alice?!

I love that song .....they play it at cabarets in town here and everyone sings (rather, screams!) along with the chorus...good times, good times?!?!

another fun and educational trip report. thanks ris.

seeing your pics makes it easier for me to go back to the mayan. not because it isn't beautiful, it is, but because its a little hilly for me and, if i squint while reading, its like i was there!

say hello to the barcelo for me. haven't stayed at the palace but think you'll like it. the beach at the maya/beach end is very nice.

merry christmas.

Great report, Maggie! Your condo looked awesome, especially that infinity pool! Looks like a perfect place for happy hour and sunset cocktails every evening. *sigh*

BTW, where is this place (in the photo below)?

Thanks for reading Joanie....it was as nice as ever. One of these years we might get as adventurous as you and Mike are, and venture a bit farther afield. With only a week, Zihua and immediate area was more than enough.

That is an area with private residences known as 'Punta Ixtapa'.

Punta Ixtapa

It is at the far north end of the large shallow bay that is Ixtapa. where all the AI and high rise hotels are. The bay to the south is smaller and more protected-that is where the city of Zihua is. North of here is Troncones- I think you and Jason and the kids would also like it there. Surfing!

The best Touristic Guide in Troncones Guerrero, Mexico area.

I found this about rentals at Punta Ixtapa too....

and Troncones...

Sheesh, Maggie, how did I miss this report?! Caught up with it all, though, and it makes me want to go back to the west coast one day. Still too enamored with Q Roo though...

Awesome report, beautiful pics, and you always provide all those great links.
And that condo and pool.... *drool*......
