Oh - forgot to mention....

My first mtn bike ride of the year sucked. I was horrible. Super technical and I haven't ridden in like 3 months or so. Started out OK but then I took a little crash that hurt like hell. We were crossing a steep hill - on our right was the uphill, on our left the downhill. I hit something and couldn't unclip. Unfortunately, whatever I hit sent my momentum to the left and I landed on the downhill. The side I landed on was fine but my right shoulder has tendonitis in it and any shock to it sends searing pain through it. Then, the trail got even more technical and I got super whiny and ugh. Poor Steve.

About halfway through, I finally sucked it up and started having fun. However, I don't think I'll ride this particular trail again.

We are once more having a schwack of people over for perogies, cabbage rolls and sausage so I have spent the day cleaning house and assisting management in whatever way I can.

3 miles today in the cold/wind/ice. I was hoping to be in the lead for 2012, but I see Josefina and Jevans have me covered. Bitch/asshole.

That doesn't stop the rest of us from posting. Just sayin'.

I have never heard of schwack before. So, I googled it, and the first hit was Urban Dictionary.

YOU MUST CLICK ON THIS LINK SO SEE WHAT I FOUND AS THE FIRST DEFINITION FOR SCHWACK

Urban Dictionary: Schwack

I am now picturing Neil walking around his house schwacking people.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to our 2012 running thread.

You got it. As Neil is the one who introduced us to the word, I wonder if Neil is a schwacker.

Actually we had a bunch of cancellations/no shows so instead of a whole schwack we only had about a half-schwack. It was still fun.

Planning to go for a long run today but first I need to get one of these.

Penicillin will take care of that.

today's run:
4.1 miles
8.11 total for the year
34:54
8:30/mile

I struggled today. Pretty sore from yesterday and the cardio isn't back. I also did some pretty good hills in the sand today.
60 degrees and sunny. not a bad day.

First run of the year done - 18k. Legs were definitely complaining about the residual alcohol/butter tart levels.

I guess those levels are better than alcohol/butter FART levels

My legs itched from running! Not because I picked up some questionable illness that required penicillin. Thought you cold weather runners would sympathize. I don't know why I expected sympathy from you fools. You're like my online brothers.

Did you get your 0.1 in today JG? Or am I beating you already?

My biggest goal of 2012 is to beat JG in mileage.

Wait, what?! I have to do math in order to post here? If only I knew an accountant...

Ok, so lucky for me I had mapped yesterday's run previously and it converts to 5.1 miles.

Today was a jog-turned-hike. I had planned on doing 11 kms (7miles) on a new route and part way in my right leg started giving me grief. I cut back early on my loop, not realizing that it meant climbing 200ft over 0.5 mile of rough trails. The end result was 5 miles at the super slow pace of 12:41 min/mile.

YTD: 10 miles

I will be taking tomorrow off of running (ok, what I really do is jogging, but one day it will be running!) to let my leg rest a bit. I'm planning on hitting the gym before work tomorrow to do some weights and core work.

I had today off of work but I still have a designation class tonight.

Neil G - "A round tuit" hee hee. I need one of those too!

You ARE a runner. We do not recognize the difference between "joggers" & "runners".

Do you trail run? I love to trail run and am hoping to do some trail races this year.

Nice YTD! Glad you're taking tomorrow off. I'll try to get 3 miles in to get a little closer to your YTD!

What's a designation class?
