But then I also ate half of the fish filet my son couldn't finish as well...and had a mai tai to wash it all down. Congrats on the weight loss and on breaking two-hundo for the year already! My bike ride last night was amazing. Three of us got together and ended up doing just over 30 miles together, but wound our way around St. Paul hitting as many hills as we could. Ended up with almost 2,000 feet of climbing with an average pace of 17.1 mph. We hit 40 mph on one downhill as well. Really fun. Not as sore as I thought I'd be, so I guess my legs are doing alright! Swimming over lunch today then another run tomorrow. |

We scouted the hill and rode it twice yesterday, though. It's gonna be tough

Potentially.
It's going to be about a minute-and-a-half to two minutes of 200% effort. There are 36 of us on the starting list, and we're going to race 4 at a time (9 races). The sole winner of each group advances to the next round which will consist of 3 racers per race. Winner of each of those goes to the final consisting of the top/remaining three who all will obviously get a podium position but will determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. Also prizes for "best pain face" and one unannounced prize that's supposed to be pretty funny. It shouldn't last longer than an hour or two if it's organized properly. |

another 5.1 miles today 40:55 8:04/mile I felt like I could have ran all day at that pace. 178.5 for the year before the run I did another 10 minute "crossfit" workout. a buddy of mine keeps challenging me to these. They name the workouts after females. The workout I did this morning was "Cindy". Ha 5 pullups, 10 pushups, 15 situps=1 set I did 12 sets in 10 minutes. Which equals 60 pullups, 120 pushups, 180 situps. The actual workout is a 20 minute workout. My heartrate goes through the roof on these things. I'm heading over the hill to San Francisco, Pacifica, and Half Moon Bay for the weekend. LOTS of clam chowder coming my way. Have a great weekend and Happy Easter. |

45 pullups and 103 pushups in 5 min. 100 pullups, 100 pushups, 100 situps, & 100 air squats in 15:17 101 pullups and 120 airsquats in 8:30 60 tricep dips, 60 pushups, & 60 burpees in 5:45 These are just some random exercises put together for a very intense, short amount of time. I then top it off with a run. I'll do this for awhile until something more intriguing comes along.

By airsquats do you mean hindu squats where the heels come off the floor and you do an armswing, or do you mean a bodyweight squat where the heels stay down?
When I was lifting a lot I used to do the royal court, which would be hindu squats, hindu pushups (also called "divebomber" or "judo" pushups) and then back bridge. I think I got up to 3 sets of 50 squats, 20 pushups, 30 second bridge. That workout would kill me now. |

Changed my 4x5 mile plan yesterday. It was nice out so I decided to do 6.5 on the trails. Now I only need 3.5 on Saturday to get my 20 in for the week.
A funny thing happened running with Sam. (11 year old Jack Russel) He runs off leash and for the first couple of miles he's usually running behind me because he's sniffing things and marking the trail. I can hear him right behind me and he starts whining like somethings bothering him. So I look back and there's another runner coming up behind us. I don't think I've ever been past by another runner with him. We've had bikes pass us and passed walkers with dogs. I have Sam come up to me and run along side me. When the runner starts going by Sam starts barking at him and then runs along side him barking. I call him back but he keeps a close eye on the runner until he gets out of sight in the woods. Nice to know Sam's got my back. 164 ytd Last edited by DavidB; 04-06-2012 at 04:36 PM.. |

Let's see how many numbers I can throw out today:
Sub-40-minute 5-miler over lunch today. No speed work just a good tempo pace run. Sunny. 60 degrees. 40% humidity. Breeze with gusts to 10 mph. Shorts and t-shirt and it was a heavenly lunch break. 91.65 miles YTD 6 workouts in the last 6 days: 2 bike rides (one trainer and one on the roads), two runs and a swim. 40.44 real miles traveled total this week. Just over 5 hours of aerobic activity. 2 L of water intake so far today with number 3 sitting in front of me. 107 days to 70.3. Feeling 100% and grilling 10 oz bacon-wrapped sirloin tips and potatoes and partaking a few 12 oz-ers along with it. 2.5 hours until I go home. |
