did a lame two miler in sacramento on saturday. one mile today due to a sore knee. i can't wait till this thing heals up.

year mileage: 227.2

on a different note. we are starting to plan a 24 year reunion for a group of us that spent 1989 and 1990 together in Guanajuato, Mexico. I've got a thread on here of crazy stories and pictures of my time there. You ought to check it out for entertainments sake. There is also a thread on here of my travels up and down the pacific side of Mexico in 1989-1991.

Hola! I'm still here!!! Was in VT this weekend so did some hiking. Then, yesterday my cardio was cutting the lawn.

My legs have been feeling really weird. Like a strain under my right butt check where your butt meets the top of your thigh. Anyway, went to yoga tonight and feel sooooooooo much better!!

I'm planning on a 3.1 miler tomorrow. Oh, and today, I began my Diet Coke rehabilitation plan. Instead of reaching for the DC, I drank 72 oz of water plus about 16 oz of milk. Holy crap I peed a lot today. TMI, I know.

10 km yesterday, YTD 250.2 miles. I am starting to ramp up training now that I'm healthy, all my martial arts stuff is slowing down for summer, and the weather is reasonable.

Didn't run for 6 days. 3 days of rain,2 days of Cinco De Mayo, and 1 day of hangover. Ran 6 yesterday.

Good luck with the house Becca. Sounds like there's a lot of interest in it.
Great job on the 10 Sara.

OK, good- I thought I was talking to myself here

Sorry knee is still bugging you, jevans- what a bummer. Hope it heals up soon- it's good that you're taking it easy in the meantime. I also love (read: hate) that your mileage is so much higher than mine, even with your injury

Great, now I'm jealous of the bitch's VT hiking, too Can't you just lead a lame life, girl? Butt strain. Hehe

Neil is still killing it

David- nice job w/ the 2 day Cinco de Mayo marathon- that's a workout I can really get into And my 10 miler sucked, but thanks for the encouragement

Rainout today- supposed to run 5, but it's coming down sideways. Zoe won't even go out- she peed under the overhang of the house So the run's rescheduled for tomorrow. Going to do some core work tonight- I've really been slacking on that......

3 miles fast in the woods today. Not as fast as I would have liked but about the same time as my daughter's 5K a couple of weeks ago.

Ha! Well, life's too short to be lame!

Well....actually, I'm kind of lame right now. I hurt my back - sleeping wrong..maybe? About to take a hot bath to try to get it to relax.

No running this week - weather has been shite. I did yoga Monday night...ommmmmmm...loved it! So did my butt strain! Then, Tuesday, I was back in my group power class (1 hour weight lifting). Yesterday, I had to do a ESL tutor training @ school and then tonight, I had to tutor. Tomorrow, I am going to see Florence + the Machine at Mohegan Sun (casino)!!! Yippee!! Plan is to run on Saturday (if back is better)!

Hey runners, I have a question for you.

I don't run, but I climb intense hills. Every single time, I get a stitch in the same spot in my side. Any clue as to why this happens? My friend said to ask a runner, they would know.

Can be caused by a number of reasons but for me, it's almost always because of my breathing. If I get really winded, I start taking short, shallow breaths and BOOM, I get a stitch. I had someone tell me during a race to breathe out twice as long as I breathe in to get rid of the stitch. Totally worked. Here's a link that I found helpful...

Sounds like your doing something wrong. Or too often.

i agree on the breathing. typically shorter breaths cause cramping in the side. longer, deeper breaths allow for those muscles to stretch out and receive more oxygen.

another lame almost mile today. my knee felt good all day then i started running and............

Wanted a nice easy 5 or 6 today. Rolled my ankle at about 2.75 in some soft sand. Nothing to bad but it was either stop at the 3 or head out for another 2.8 mile loop. I decided to quit at 3 and not push it.

That's one of the dangers of trail running. My trails are mostly hard pack but there are sections where there's soft sand and other areas with exposed roots. I usually roll an ankle about once every two years. Only once has it been bad enough to loose more then a day of training. That time I twisted it on a stick really bad. 234 miles for the year. 1 mile ahead of jevans and 10,000 pushups behind him.
