-37C here this morning
....that was BEFORE the windchill...-46C with the wind! And we got about 6" of snow on the weekend.I was so used to the springlike weather we'd been having....this has been a big shock to the system! But on the bright side (there is always one!) we will appreciate and be looking forward to our Playa trip even more now!

Hola Albertans...cold snap.....what gets you through it?
Hola, Alberta's Cold Snap
Yes it's getting colder isn't it. Let's keep our chins up as the sun shines down on us almost every day, the sky is airy, and I love it when it is sunny and snowing at the same time.....like little diamonds falling from the sky. Ok I'll cut to the chase.........what do you do to get your bod, soul and mind through the winters? I go to planet beach for hydration station.....very warm and hydrates your skin. I only tan before vacation so I keep my skin healthy and don't wrinkle up before my time. I started tanning now as we are looking at one month before we go to PDC. I work out at a gym called good life and they have massage chairs, hot steam room, and sauna. Eat and drink hot foods, spicy foods and stay inside. I go on the computer a lot as well especially since my hubby bought me a lap top for x-mas. It's dry here cream up everyone. Plan your next vacation keeps me occupied in a nice warm house. Cleaning the house staying inside. Pull up a PDC web cam leave it on your screen with music playing. Tell the kids to bring a craft, game or inside activity for school so they don't get bored. "Inside days" at school give my kids Huge cabin fever. Standing infront of the sink where the heater blows on my feet This is helps. from Oilpatchbratstayathomemom Alberta = hot drink ![]() 1 month PDC= cold drink

@prettymommy
Last February, we decided that if we were really going to remain in Alberta for a few more years.. we had to skip February. So, we saved and skrimped, worked and budgeted all year to skip it this year. We are avid gardeners/urban farmers in Calgary, so we make sure we have plants growing all year indoors, and with some alterations this summer to our greenhouse, we should be growing in there as well. That, along with tanning, working out, healthy eating and family activities, helps us remain almost sane throughout our insane winters... The countdown is on.. and my mind has been to Playa already, every day since January 1! |
