Gran Porto Real/ Questions
I have seen reviews from a place called the Real resort in Playa Del Carmen. Is that the same resort as the GPR? We are trying to book a trip for 2/26/2012 thru 3/3/2012 . My wife and I stayed at Dreams Cancun last year and loved it. Does the Gran Porto Real compare? What kind of beer do they have on tap? I love the Playa Del Carmen area, and I could give up some luxury in the resort to stay in the area. Any help would be much appreciated.

REAL is a chain of resorts in Cancun and Playa Del Carmen they mainly conist of 4 ***** star resorts in two seperate groups Royal and Gran (Royals being a step above Gran I beleive). But there is a REAL Playa Del Carmen Hotel and Beach Club which is off the beach in Playa Del Carmen and considered to be a 4 star by the the same chain REAL. ![]() So it all depends on the one your are inquiring about ... REAL Playa Del Carmen, The REAL Royal, The Gran Porto REAL or who knows maybe there is another. Just figured that out about a week ago. See for yourself -> Real Playa Del Carmen Last edited by T&L; 01-26-2012 at 09:43 AM.. |

Real Resorts has three properties in PDC;
3* - Real Playa del Carmen (on 5th ave, off the beach) 4* - Gran Porto Real (on the beach at Constituyentes) 5* - The Royal (across the street from the GPR, adults only). The Real is fairly basic, but good value; the GPR is a step up and very family-friendly; the Royal is straight luxury. Hope that helps. |

![]() I should add that guests staying at the Royal can eat & drink at the GPR & the Real at no cost. Likewise, guests at the GPR can eat & drink at the Real. IOW, the all-inclusive package at any given resort in the Real Resorts chain includes the restaurants and bars at the less-luxurious resorts in the same chain. This is especially handy when staying at the Royal since the GPR`s restaurants add Italian & Mexican to the range of choices, and are quite good (although not quite up to the standards at the Royal) |
