I am sure you will find peeps!! Ugh, tell your boss he's gotta answer to me next time he tries to pull this...although, this is probably the last year we are going to Playa for at least a couple of years...I got into the master's program I applied to last year. It starts in at the end of June and it's 2 years full time + both summer sessions. Not only are we going to be poor, I will have to spend breaks from school at work. I am super excited though!
Actually that was TWO years ago that some strays were picked up at El Fogon and ended up on an impromptu bar crawl!!! What a blast that was!!! Harold and the "Blue Lagoon"!

Well the other news is both exciting and sad as I'd sure hate to not see you guys for THREE years!!!

As promised, I am reporting back on Yan Ten. The shrimp tacos were more tasty than the fish, in my opinion. The margaritas were 2x1, and tasted fine, but nothing to rave about. The bill was accurate.

Thanks for the report. Do you remember the prices on the margs? I dont mind an average marg for an average price but FAR too often we pay $8 for a shitty marg on the beach.

Yan and Tens is owned by the same people who own Las Brisas Restaurant. All the food is good and reasonable. The owners are actually one of the "original" Playa families that lived in Playa long before it became what it is today. And they are fishermen so their fish is fresh. Wahoo Watersports is located next door and another family member, Bart, owns that.

The bathrooms are adequate but not so great IMO. Could be better. They are okay, but definitely not great. We stay at the Mimi, to the south. So the bathrooms are not an issue. But the same can be said of many of the bathrooms at places in Playa. Just so you know.

The Fish Taco's at Yan and Tens have a light breading and are delicious. Shrimp Taco's are also great. They make a great Club Sandwich with fries as well. In fact all their food is great. You can sit on the beach or in the courtyard under a roof. One day it rained hard for a while and we sat there and ate and drank while it poured.

Playa Maya is another great place to try out. They have fish taco's as well as shrimp taco's. Their's are unbreaded. Coconut shrimp, Club sandwich are good as well. Good food. Bathrooms are pretty nice at Playa Maya.

Those are probably two of our favorite places on the beach.
Yan and Ten Beach Club has put in brand new bathrooms. Nice. Same great food and drink at great prices. Club sandwich with fries for 65 pesos. 38 pesos buys you 2 beers (19 pesos each). Their business is booming with the addition of the new bathrooms. And they now have more tables under a big tent on the beach. Hard to beat their prices.

Nancy, yes we did. Easy walk from Mom's! Although we went the scenic route. 8 shrimp tacos, 2 beers with tip 200 pesos. Very good althought Aquachilis still remains my favorite.

I can tell you the best fish tacos in AKUMAL at Gynn'AK in Half Moon Bay, on the road towards the lagoon at the end of the road. Located across the street from Villas Flamingo. they are LIONFISH Tacos, prepared Tequila Flambeed with lime and cilantro, or get Beer Battered lionfish tacos! with a slice a avocado, chipotle mayonaise, fresh chopped cilantro...MMMmmmm
