Where to find Live Music?
I started a similiar thread in the Tulum forum. The general consensus (though few replies) was that things start to quiet down in early May. I'm thinking that after our few days in Tulum when we move up to Playa there should be a little more nightlife going on. Our group loves to check out live bands. Where are some of the best places to find music? I've noticed Bad Boys is pretty pro-active in posting their events. It's tough to find any sort of comprehensive week by week event schedule. On our last two visits we found a few interesting shows just by wandering the avenue, but it would be nice to know what's going on in advance. Not so much into the dj scene. We'd prefer people actually playing instruments. Any suggestions?

Wah Wah's on the beach, Luna Blue (calle 26 between 5th and 10th), Siesta Fiesta (the bar is actually called Fah I believe, right on 5th) to name three more. And there are more as others will be sure to chime in.

There are many places along 5th and the Beach, just walk along and listen or depending on the day ask your concierge or front desk person as they have their ear to the local scene.
There is a great place on the Eastside of 5th North of Consititutientes where every night they have a different type of music. It is always packed, I am trying to picture it......2 to 3 businesses after you cross Constitutientes traveling North. Also for dinner in the North End I love on the Corner of 5th Ave and 32nd (I think) called Carlito's Way, they have fun music during and after dinner. Keyboard and Guitar, great fun and the food is spectacular. I sat at Luna Blue havin a be vie listening to live music as well. There is a great Cuban Restaurant where Salsa is huge, they have lessons Tues and Thurs I think and that place hops when the band plays. I am hoping to take them in a bit more this time. Great vibe !! Now this place was on the Eastside of the Street at a cross road, perhaps just after or just before Ave 5 y 34, help me out here locals. Zenzi's on the bar had some great music when I was in Playa last as well. So many choices and this spring in Cancun the concerts being put on WOW. Enriquie Iglesias is at the Moon Palace March 10. Check out ticket master if you are interested in a concert. |

Fusion on the beach at Calle 6 is our go-to spot for birthdays and nights out (being a bunch of hermits). Music and show schedule here, on their website. Live music can be anything from reggae to jazz, and Friday/Sat nights Salsa.
