Visiting Xel-Ha during rain this weekend

Hello,

I'll be flying into Cancun and taking a bus directly to Playa DC Saturday. I am very interested in visiting a nature park. I found the site for Xel-ha and it doesn't seem to expensive for an all inclusive trip to the reserve. I only have 2 full days in Playa. I've read that This weekend it's suppose to be raining with thunderstorms on the day I arrive and showers for the day I want to head down towards Tulum and Xel-ha. Does the rain usually last all day or just isolated times of the day.

I'd like to know if it would be worth it to visit this place for the day, try some snorkeling, exploring and having food and mixed drinks free at the restaurants. I am coming alone, no kids. Is Xel-ha more of a kids place or can a solo traveler such as myself visit for the day. I'm very interested in the free food and drinks included in the ticket price since i've been told such things can be a little pricey in PDC.

Would the rain ruin things? With only two days to visit PDC. I'm also very interested in culture and snorkeling, seeing the wildlife. I only wish i was certified for diving. What do people think about visiting this place before leaving for Merida on Tuesday morning?

Thanks for any advice.

I've been once in 2009. I went with my wife, parents, and sister and boyfriend. The Food was decent for lunch.

We didn't care for the snorkeling and would not go back. I've heard of other folks that really liked it so you may have a different viewpoint.

I don't know what to do while in the Playa DC area. I've been all through Mexico except for Quntana Roo and the Yucatan. I was planning to save any tours I might take for Chiapas which has been my favorite part of Mexico so far. I really want to see Agua Azul.

I'm heading back to Guatemala where I stayed for the summer in Quetzaltenango (Xela) for another 3-6 months of volunteer service. I'm taking the long way from PDC - Merida - San Cristobal Del Las Casas, Chiapas - Quetzaltenango, Guate. So I'm on a tight budget. I'll be staying at a hostel in PDC and want to both see some cultural and natural sights in the area and do a little partying later on. My Plane arrives at around 4:00pm so I should be getting checked in at around 6:00pm. I've been reading up on the cheapest places to find good drinks on this forum, so I'll probably hit some watering holes along the beach to celebrate my arrival. I just have to plan my next 2 full days well. I found out there's only 1 ADO Platino from PDC to Merida and it leaves later on in the day, so I'm gonna have to leave early on my 3rd day at 8:00am for Cancun to catch the ADO GL at around 10:00am to Merida

I want to go to Tulum for sure, maybe even Cozumel or Isla Mujeres back up near cancun. I'm just wondering if it's worth it to spend one of my days at Xel-Ha. I notice it's not open to late and i could probably find some local culture followed by drinking without time constraints elsewhere. I'm just wondering if i'd be missing out on a great experience.

Again, I wish i had the time and money to get PADI certified to dive but I've found it to be around $350 for classes around Playa plus 3-4 days. Luckily I found a place in Guatemala along Lake Atitlan in the Guatemalan Highlands for just $220 which includes a place to stay for the 4 days of courses. Since I have my open ended return flight from Cancun I may try some diving after I'm Certified.

I Just want to make the most out of my first visit to the Mayan Riviera. I have Feb 11th to Feb 17th before i leave for Chiapas and my ADO Platino doesn't leave Merida until the evening, so I have close to 6 full days to visit the Yucatan.
