My husband, 8 yr old son and I are booked to stay at Riu Tequila in early April. I know they're not right on the beach, but know little else outside of the brochure info. Has anyone stayed? Any feedback? Much appreciated!

We stayed there in January and thoroughly enjoyed it. The walk to the beach takes about 10 minutes - golf cart shuttle is available. Rooms are simple but clean, staff is friendly and helpful, food is plentiful and above-average, the grounds are beautiful and pool is quite nice. The beach was the best part of the package - I think that you'll love it. We didn't bring children, but I noticed that the staff who provided activities for kids were really good and the kids seemed to love them. It was a good value and we would go back.

I think you will enjoy the Riu Tequila. I've stayed at the Yucatan, Tequila and I am booked for two weeks at the Playacar in April also.
The only thing I didn't like was not being close to the beach. It is a bit of a hike, but there is a shuttle provided and the
walk-way to the beach is covered since it can get pretty warm. Just remember however, that when you head to the beach each day, take what you need, otherwise it's quite a hike back to your room. As for any of the Riu resorts if you have never been to one, I think you will be very impressed with the whole package. The food is excelleny, and tons of variety. Kids/teens will have no problem finding stuff to eat that will keep them happy and there is lots of different activites as well. The rooms are not fancy by any means, but don't confuse this with being shabby either. They are exactly what most rooms are like at any of the 5-star resorts in the Caribbean/mexico. But truly how much time are you in your room anyway? Overall, the Riu resorts are fantastic and have never been disappointed yet in my many stays both in PDC and the Dominican.

We have been considering the Tequila for a couple of years now. I hope you leave feed back from your trip. We have a 14 year old son and so far his fav. vacation spot is the Gala in Hualtulco. We like the Pacific side over new years. You can not beat the weather 90, sunny everyday!!! I'm glad to hear the RIU has plenty for teens to do!!!!

You will love the Tequila. We stayed there 2 years ago and are staying at the Yucatan in 8 days.
