Playa hotel recommendations?

Finally going back! (After going through a divorce and major illness at same time which took a few years.) So excited to finally get to down there again. Gosh, the prices are high! I contacted my old mainstay, Hotel Tortuga and I was surprised by the prices, they're a lot higher than last time I stayed there, which was 2006.

Any hotel recommendations for Playa, that have charm and aren't more than $150 a night? This is a special trip and I'd love an attractive hotel... but can't pay $200 a night. This will be for last days of February.

Thanks!

Maybe check out Aventura Mexicana and Luna Blue. Not on the beach, but it sounds like you would be okay with that as Tortuga wasn't either.

I like The Bric Hotel

Very charming great location, not on the beach but a 4-5 min walk near everything and depending on when you go under 100.

Breaky and a great staff included.

Aventura Mexicana. Definitely under $150 per night.

Another vote for the Luna Blue. Nice clean rooms, a great swing bar, free breakfast, and a new pool.

You may want to try the BRIC - we haven't stayed there yet (booked formarch) but it gets good reviews. We have stayed at AM and Luna Blue and we think the place is comparable

Thanks for your recommendation. They don't seem to have availability, from the calendar on their site but I've written to them in case. Problem is, this trip is rather last minute. I need the room in Playa for Feb 28 and 29. Hotel Tortuga does have availability but its more than I want to pay. But I don't want totally cheap and ugly either because it's a special trip!

There are two Bric's not related. The one I am mentioning is found under The BRIC Hotel.

on Calle 28 Ave 5 y 10

Trip Advisor shows the hotel in the wrong place, truly it is 1/2 a block to 5th and one more to the beach! love the location and the hotel.

Just to make sure.

How bout La rena roja, might be to pricey, great roof top pool and close to the beach!

there are quite a few nice little places there. Quinto Sol, Something Live just on 10 y 26 ish

Try vrbo for a last minute condo deal, you never know.
