Here is a chopped up map to give you an idea. #2 and #5 on your list didn't show maps but I'm sure are in the same area. The far right is the "proposed" Communal house. The upper most left is my house. The other 3 are your choices. From my house to any of those locales is about 5 miles. Any of those choices would be fine.

Oh I should mention Colleen and I are planning on staying in the big house too unless room is an issue. Once we get firm numbers we can make a house choice based on what everybody likes best. Eugene is small and nothing is very far apart. The wineries are about ten miles out to the west of town. Being downtown opens up restaurant, site seeing and brewey choices very nearby. Not that we need restaurants with our combined awesome cooking skills. I'm getting excited about this.

Me too, I love being somewhere and it's all new around every corner!

Looking forward to trying your smoked salmon.

Cool. So at the moment Lucy, family and friends will be finding their own place to stay.

I think the big house at the moment needs to hold 8 for sleeping and 8 + LucyGroup for party and get together.

Either the cedar house in the hills with a suana. (sleeps 8, plus)

Pros: Pretty forested setting, Nice backyard, RV parking on the street.
Cons: About 10 minutes from downtown and Lucy.

The Fairmont house by the University That's the private hot tub by owner, whatever that means. (sleeps 11)

Pros: Nice big house, minutes from where ever the Lucy clan lands and area shops, stores.
Cons: Maybe too much house, probably no RV so it would go in my driveway 5 miles away.

I like them both. Downtown convenience and big space, or forest scenery and great party yard.

I'll let you guys kick it around.

Made contact with Sweet cheeks about groups.
We can reserve a patio table, bring a picnic, and do a complimentary 6 wine tasting. Or buy the executive package with 16 wines and artisan cheese plate.

King Estates also has excellent food and appies. They do NOT reserve space outside. If there is room, we can sit outdoors. A gamble on a an August Saturday.

So far I'm thinking Saturday: Sweet Cheeks for a picnic outdoors, (a picnic like we snack at gatherings with cheeses, smoked salmon, pepper jelly, bread, etc... etc...) then reserved tasting at King? Just thinking out loud for now.

What are folks thoughts on time in Eugene? Coming in Thursday for a Friday and Saturday adventure? With Sunday lay around?

Sweet Cheeks Winery in Crow Oregon
King Estate Winery Pinot Gris & Pinot Noir Oregon Wine

There are many others, but we know these 2 are on the A list.

There is also Eugene Wine cellars and Ninkasi brewery right downtown that would be fun in the evening. Also Steelhead Brewey. Good beer, good food.

What time would this start on Friday? Gotta let Nicole know so she can plan her flight around it. I believe she said either she or Jennifer had to work on Thursday.

Lucy and group are from LA, 10 minutes in LA is 2 blocks.

I think we should size to sleep and and look for large open floor space like Umbrella day, where kitchen, dining, family, living was one large room.

No kidding! But I look forward to driving around Eugene and seeing first hand what they consider traffic.

That would be nice, but I don't think there is many choices on VRBO for larger homes.

The Fairmont house looks really nice! and it has great kitchen to work in, but it doesn't show the backyard right? And I believe this is the one you don't know if the W's could park their RV.
Can someone contact them to find out? Some of the others that Uno listed are already taken for that weekend, so I think that this should be booked sooner rather than later. IMHO

Ask the Fairmont owner about the hot tub.

This from one of the comments

But, the back patio is the best feature of the house to me. There is a covered area to accomodate grilling, eating or just enjoying the outdoors regaurdless of weather. There are stoned terraces rising three levels up the back yard. When you look up all you see is the moss covered trees silouted against the sky. It's beautiful. Were this my house I would live on the patio.

Okay e-mail sent about hot tub, and dates available. I said either Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights, or just Friday Saturday nights of that weekend. Also we would be between 8 and 10 people.
The floor plan looks really good from the pics. living room and kitchen connected with that big island.
