Sandos Playacar vs. Viva Wyndham Maya
I've done so much reading of these 2 resorts and these are the 2 I'm between. I kind of decided to go with Sandos but for our 5 night stay they are $700 more for our family of 5 (3 boys 12, 12, and 13). Is the Sandos WORTH $700 more or is the Wyndham fine for saving that amount of money? and how about The Reef for the same amount of savings?

Sandos hands down! We stayed at Viva a few years ago and the beach was soooo crowded and small. Sandos's beach is HUGE and since its the last resort on the stretch you have empty beach and jungle to explore. Food is better and they have fantastic kids clubs. They do so much with the kids. We are heading down in April for our 8th at Sandos

I stayed at Viva Maya in '09. No complaints! The beach was huge and not overcrowded (of course this was after the beach reclamation and in low season). The service and staff were great. The grounds and rooms were awesome.
Viva Maya & Iberostar Tucan being the only 2 AI's I ever stayed, my opinion my not hold much weight....but for 3 adults for 5 nights only $550 total...what could I complain about???? The Tucan won extra points for having beach service, but the Maya had an endless supply of food at all times. It may have been my timing, but we were always too late for breakfast or too early for lunch/beach bar and found ourselves always waiting around to eat. NEVER had that problem at the Maya. No comments for the kids club, as were were kidless at the time, BUT I always saw kids doing arts & crafts, pool activities, and activities on the stage. They also had a trapeze for the kids & adults. |
