We had a waveless waterbed for almost 25 years. It was the best bed I've ever slept on. In the winter I cranked that heater up to almost 100 degrees, and awwww, it was so nice to crawl in there at night, all warm and cozy.
Never had any back problems either. One day it sprung a leak, we couldn't find a replacement mattress in our area, so we got a regular $$ pillowtop mattress. It's not the same as our old warm comfy waterbed.

We went mattress shopping Friday and really liked the Desiree mattress:
Luxury Mattresses - Simmons® Beautyrest Black® Collection. Variform Advanced Pocketed Coil™ springs, Luxury bedding, Superior Conformability Motion Separation So we went home and thought about it, and did some online research and found a blogger who blogs about mattresses and she recommended this site: Sweet Dreams Mattress offers a variety of mattresses and futons in Charlotte and surrounding areas at affordable rates. So we called them and got the same mattress for almost $600 less I did some research on sdmattress and they seem legit and got good reviews and have and A+ BBB rating. We may still go out one more time just to make sure. Steve said he really didn't want a Sleep Number bed (not sure why), but I said maybe we should just try one out before we commit. So if we don't find anything better we will probably go with Desiree, which is fine with Steve since he's always wanted to try a threesome anyway

sleep numbers and water beds will all leak...and spring mattress will sag... .. But a memory foam mattress will never leak or sag..

I would happily give up regular sheets and bedspread to sleep in that wonderful bed again. Do not love the sleep number bed! But stuck with it now! |

Just be aware that some people love memory foam/latex topped matresses and others hate them.
Comon complaints can be: 1) They can be very hot. 2) Some people don't move in the night as they 'sink' in to the matress and stay in the same position leading to aches and pains. My recent experience: I bough a $3000 bed reduced in the sale which was a high quality pocket sprung. Felt great in the shop. This thing about killed me in real use. The pain I woke up with was awful - I had to go sleep in the other room. Exchanged it for just a matress costing $1300. This had a latex topper built in; again in the shop felt ok. In use it was like an oven! Also I found I sank in and didn't move during the night causing aches and pains. I nick-named it the 'plaster of paris sauna bed' I had always had sealy beds and slept like a log before so I looked in the shop but they were all latex topped or memory foam combinations as this is the latest trend. Went online and bought a standard sealy superior firm for $400. Slept like a log and every day since! So it's not always what you spend and it just depends wehat suits you. I am not taken with the new trypes of beds at all.. |

The one we are thinking about felt great in the store... but like you said, and what I have experienced, is that after several months that is when the problems start. The website where we are considering purchasing the mattress has a one year trial period, which is pretty good. If you don't like it you can exchange it for another model. That is the best I've found. There is a cost to exchange it but it was less than Macy's, and their trial was only for 60 days.As for hot... well let's just say that I am a woman of a certain age where being hot at night is a concern. We both prefer a firmer mattress as opposed to a soft pillow top, which they say is better since we are mainly stomach sleepers.... so anyway, I guess we will see! |

What do ya say Sammy ... you and me selling memory foam hammocks on the beach? I think I finally figured out how I can make a living in Mexico. Now I have to learn the translation for MEMORY FOAM. The spanish word for "foam" has never once come up in 20 years of travel. |
