We have a 10 year old foam matress and have been looking for a new one for several weeks. We have made multiple trips to a variety of stores to make sure we select a matress with which we will be happy. Each trip both my wife and I come to the same conclusion ... we both LOVE the Tempur-Pedic Cloud Luxe model. Of course, at $4,500 for a king size matress, it is one of the highest priced matresses on the market.
But they do give a 10 year full coverage warranty followed by a 10 year prorated warranty. Assuming we keep it for only 10 years, thats $450 per year. I pay more than that per year to have my garbage hauled away. It's a lot up front, but we think it will be worth every penny. We plan to purchase in the next few weeks. |

That is what we are going to buy when we upgrade to a king. That is the 'bowling ball mattress'- right? Simmons Beautyrest? Then that. A higher end model with a MF topper. Because Don is so restless and I am such a light sleeper. One that is all memory foam- he is a furnace and I have read they get very hot...although we have a 3" topper right now and it is good, so who knows. I slept on one at a hotel once and it was heavenly. (the Beautyrest.)And then I slept on a Sleep Number bed at a hotel last summer- it sucked!! But we have to buy a different house with a larger bedroom to fit a king first. ![]() ![]()

We bought a headboard and matching foundation from Ikea, so we ended up not needing the boxspring with the mattress. Our bedroom is really small also, but I was determined to fit the bed in there. I think it will be okay.

![]() I think our bedroom is only about 11 by 12....big enough but not big enough for it and our furniture as well. ![]() I was also wondering about boxsprings and if you could get away with one of those Ikea foundations....so long as it is strong enough it seems like you should be able to. |

![]() Here are links to the headboard and foundation we are getting from Ikea, except we are getting the king set. We also got legs so the bed will sit off the floor. If we got a boxspring also, I would need a ladder to get into bed ![]() BEKKESTUA Headboard - Queen - IKEA SULTAN ATLÖY Box spring - Queen - IKEA |

Our turn. I'll let you know what we get. We currently have a 15 year old something, queen size. For the last 5 years we added a 2" memory foam topper, it saved my back. Requirements: King size (the cats take up a lot of room), movement isolation (I have to be able to ride a bicycle in my sleep, and let Bonny sleep).

Hmmm...interesting! I think I WILL stick with the Simmons Beautyrest after all, after reading this. |
