Yes, you can drop items off at Carboncitos. Or if it's closer, you can drop them off at my condo bldg on 32nd St and 1st Ave (ocean side), Apt 1B. If no one answers the door, just drop them over the balcony and we'll get them.
Just give me a heads up that you are doing it so I know who to thank. This summer some in our committee are starting up our volunteer reading program at the school and I am coordinating the purchase of some English curriculum materials for the new school year starting in August from Minnesota. It definitely is the hard way to purchase anything. Thanks to everyone for the support. Gayle |

Hi Gayle, I have collected some bags from generous folks and have them here at my house. When you have some free time, you're welcome to pop 'round and pick them up. There's a little too much to fit on my bike, but I could bring it to you in a couple of trips if that doesn't work out for you.
I work from home so I am mostly home during the day--let me know if you need my number again.

We will be down next Saturday. We have collected some school supplies to bring down. I did not see spiral notebookon the list. Does the school use these? I found a great set of flash cards that are meant to teach Spanish to k thru 2 grades but it has the English word as well as Spanish. Is this something they could use? Everything is on sell here in states for back to school. What is the biggest need besides backpacks. We got two of those but not sure that I could fit anymore in our luggage. Is school in session now? If so and you still need readers my family would love to volunteer? Could my boys read to the class? They Are in third and fourth grade and I would love to get them involved with this project. Also where should I leave this stuff if we don't get to go to the school?

Hi herdfans4...thank you so much for thinking about the KKIS Project and bringing down school supplies! You rock!! To answer your questions: no, we don't ask for notebooks as they don't use the same kind you can buy in the states (schools and especially elementaries are very particlular about what students use), you can bring the flashcards are long as they are bilingual, school let out on July 7th and starts again on Aug 22nd, we won't start reading to students again until the end of August or beginning of Sep - if you are still in Playa please let us know and we'll work you in. Since Carboncitos sold this summer and I am not in Playa right now to work this out, we are not sure that they will allow us to drop off school supplies. So I would ask that you walk north on 5th Ave to 32nd street and turn right towards the beach, go one block and on the corner to your right and across the street is a small, white condo bldg. Go up either stairway and drop them on the balcony on the left. Our maintenance man has been told to look there each day for them. Others school supplies that we are always in need of are pencils, blue pens, colored pencils, glue sticks and scissors...no markers or crayons! And thanks again. Gayle
