Uxmal and ruta Puuc

Some people may have a doubt about traveling all the way to Mérida and then spend one extra day at Uxmal and doing the Ruta Puuc, well, if you like to visit Mayan ruins (not just climbing pyramids), this is for you.

Totally worth the visit.

The city of Uxmal is one of the most impressive in terms of architectural findings and also the decorations are in most cases in better shape than Chichen Itza or Tulum.

The ruta Puuc consists on visiting some other nearby cities not far from Uxmal: Kabah, Sayil, X-Lapak, Labná, the Lol Tun caves (grottoes) and I added the Ecomuseum of Cacao (chocolate).

Kathy and I highly recommend Uxmal.

Our visit there was made even more pleasant by the company of Susie.

After we get to Merida, we'll be happy to be a way station for Playenses headed that way.

Jesus - Do you know what kind of bird that was? My sister just gave me a Peterson Field Guide for "Mexican Birds". With my very limited skills of identification, I THINK it's a Yucatan Jay. Wanted to know if I was right?

Thanks, but this is just a showing of a 1% of the pics I snapped, not a real trip report, I'm too lazy as I'm posting in 3-4 different places with different formats and uploading procedures. I'm adding a link to the albums at the end.

Too bad I forgot to visit Susie, but anyway I was heading West with no return planned at that point.
At Uxmal, the library in the visitors complex is very well stocked and I got me a cheap version of the "Incidents of travel to Yucatan..." by Sthepens and it's amazing all that they found, and there still more to re-locate, so it may be your turn.

Sorry Becky, not a single idea, there were like 10 different kinds of birds near Kabah's arch, all chanting and chirping and I was only able to catch 3 of them, but I do not know nutting about birds, but your sis may be right, comparing with wiki/Yucatan_Jay
it looks veeeery similar and it was in Yucatán.
