Emergency last night while at the softball game. The IPad did not cut it.
I'm giving up on the idea of using the IPad or a tablet for my requirements. The tools just don't exist on either for me to be able to handle all of my different customers. I don't need much in terms of tools. I will use this small computer for remote access (3G or 4G) to customer sites when I'm out of town, at a party on a weekend, or on vacation.
I can deal with everything else with the IPad, but without those two VPN requirements fulfilled, the IPad is basically a toy for me. I'm going to have to move to something else, maybe a notepad or very small notebook. This computer will have to be able to simultaneously run two separate VM envs as well as its own O/S, where I can have each of those 3 environments connected to 3 separate networks at the same time. The VMs also have to be able to handle all the different VM softwares I'm required to run by my different customers. |

Steve has a Toshiba netbook (at least I think it's a netbook - a mini laptop right?) he uses to surf the net while watching tv. It was cheap, does the job, happy husband. But then he also has that Samsung phone, so his standards are not that high.....
. . . . . Just joking!! ![]()

The 4G is what sold me on the New iPad. I am moving to Denver in a few months and will be commuting into work everyday on the train. The iPad with 4g will be very nice.
I have the macbook air as well and find that it is great when I need to do more than just surf, email or apps. I tend not to travel with the macbook air as much since it is not as self contained as the iPad. I enjoy having a single device for books, games, music, photos, internet and email. I look forward to receiving the new iPad on March 16th and breaking it in on my flight down to Cancun the following week for Spring Break in Tankah Bay. |
