I sort of figured as much. Okay.

Did you look at Houzz?

Can't believe I didn't hear of it before....great inspiration! Even if you are just repainting or decorating a room, looking for new lighting, etc.
I love that site... I spent a lot of time there when I was planning the new kitchen that will never be now

never say never!

My 'ideabook' (on that website) is brimming over.

Hubby is not a fan of 'our' kitchen, Mercy .... but he will learn to love it.

another favourite resource from when we bought our current house.

Paint Color Wheel - Benjamin Moore Paint Color Chart - Paint Color Palette

I love Benjamin Moore, and will stick with that brand....anyone have any recs (if I may please ask) for nice neutrals? Our current house is all painted Dry Sage which was all the rage (hee hee) for a while but I am SO sick of green toned neutrals- I am thinking of a more camel-ly beige?

I forget the one I saw a house painted a few years ago it was so nice...Abington Putty maybe? It looked yellow in some light, beige in others, even grey green in the evening.

no kidding!

There was another one where the oval shower, glassed in, was in the middle of the bathroom floor, and you stepped down a step or two. Neat!

I had no luck with searching the color you like on BM's website.

an infinity edge bathtub!

I kind of feel like printing off a couple of photos of the really huge bathrooms with tons of luxe upgrades - and telling her this is what we want, but it has to be 'within our budget'....just to screw with her a bit.

I imagine that is akin to printing off a pic of Jennifer Aniston or some other gorgeous celeb- and telling your hairdresser 'make me look like this'...(I bet they hate people who do that!)

I'd never heard of that site before either. I just went and checked it out- it's pretty cool. And, lo and behold I found a link to our website there!

How exciting you're building a house- I've always wanted to do that.... but we are four years into remodeling our old Greek Revival house. I love it, but there is always something more to do!
And I admit we're tailoring it to just how we like it, with not too many thoughts of resale down the road. It definitely would not be to everyone else's taste, but we'll deal with that if and when the time comes. In the meantime I am thoroughly enjoying our new Mexican-inspired walk in shower and our mid century-inspired kitchen- just now getting it's first update since 1960! When we bought it it had a vintage built-in "Modern Maid" stainless oven and Miami Carey rangetop- and truthfully I fell in love with the house partly because of some of the funky things like that...

Go on Benjamin Moore to their new series "Color Stories". We just re-did our bathroom (created a "wet-room" with tub and shower next to eachother behind a glass wall) and did a walkin closet and painted our bedroom. Beautiful colors and incredible qaulity paint. It went on so nicely. Chose Porcini for the bathroom walls and faded lilac for the bedroom. **NOTE: Gotta get samples and try them out as your computer color definately varies from the real paint color.

I would post pics, but can recall how to do it.

Would you post some pics?? Pretty please?? I remember seeing you post a pic of your Mexican inspired living room once.

Yeah, I guess it is a balance between viewing your home as both an investment and in the end just doing what you want and enjoying the process.

I am pretty boring, in truth ....I like neutral colours and traditional style with some modern touches.

I want to do a different dark colour in the powder room..sconces...and a vessel sink.

I WANT TO DO THAT WET-ROOM style of bathroom!

When we were just at the BArcelo Palace, that was how their bathrooms were- with a rainshower and half wall dividing the vanity and tub beside...I hate cleaning glass and think this would be perfect...I am going to ask the builder today if they could do that...why not, right?

(dang....just realized...might not be possible with a corner tub. )
I will look at those colours, too.

Click on the 'image' icons above (yellow with mountains one) and paste the pic 'address' in there to post a pic!

We love it. It is so much more spacious feeling. The glass just got installed today and I havent seen it yet.

There is no way to upload photos directly from the computer correct? You have to dump them on photobucket or the like first?

Good luck with that.

Although, you can pull off an overall feeling you'd like to achieve without getting all of the luxe items on your list. I wouldn't scrimp on the tub. But that is just me. Everyone has their "no sacrifice zone". I've already gone through possible ideas to pull off this effect in our master bath.

One more thing. I prefer looking at photos of bathrooms; planning and dreaming, etc. Looking at kitchens just makes me think of work. haha

Haha!! Steve wasn't either... I was thinking the same thing... "Honey, you just leave the designing to me."

Oh and a tip for the kitchen.... drawers, drawers, drawers!!! They are so much easier to access than cabinets. I have a 36" drawer base that holds all my dishes, utensils, and the bottom drawer holds all our snacks. In the "new" kitchen I had all drawer bases.

This website is great if you're designing a kitchen this is the forum... the people there are TKO (totally kitchen obsessed)!!
