Which one? (hotel)

Going to go to playa non AI this year for the first time.. Thinking of these:
Playa Palms
Playa Maya
Luna Blue
LaTortuga

We are not partiers and tend to go to bed early and get up early lol..

So please give me your opinion of these places!

Is staying ON the beach a big deal for you? It is for us so I would go Playa Palms or Playa Maya. We are staying at the Blue Parrot Suites this year, they look nice and are super close to the beach. They are condos and are reasonably priced, you could check them out too.

Playa Palms - music from Blue Parrott can be loud
Luna Blue - bar closes at 11:00pm, quiet after that.
Playa Maya: great location, nice rooms..on the beach

Our first non-AI trip we decided on Playa Maya, and when not in Tulum or at an AI we go to Playa Maya. It is not too pricey considering you are on the beach and it includes a real breakfast. We have thought about staying away from the beach, but the walking back and forth to a hotel was not appealing since we spend a majority of our time on the beach relaxing or going to different beach clubs for lunch and drink specials. We also go to bed pretty early for PDC time and are up early to enjoy the beach.

How about the Aventura Mexicana?

Have heard great things, hoping to maybe stay there if we are in Playa in August.

Two pools, quiet at night, good location, budget friendly prices, great on-site restaurant.

Aventura Mexicana Hotel - Playa del Carmen Mexico - Official website

and they have this optional VIP plan that is amazing good deal, too....

Quote:
VIP All Inclusive Plan - Guests order anything from the Mayan Bistro food menus and have it freshly made to order. VIP Plan includes all PREMIUM beverages & drinks, all day, all night - soda, beer, wine, cocktails & margaritas! Only available by booking with us so search availability to see rates and more details.

all day drinks and I think one meal per guest per day, in addition to the contintental breakfast. It's a great deal, from all reports, not at all expensive. And maybe a good way to ease into the non AI vacation style.

I am going to second Aventura Mexicana. We love this place. Although not on the beach, its only about a two block walk plus it is so convenient to everything. The price is great as well. If I were to stay at one of those other places, I would stay at Playa Maya.

Would stay at either Luna Blue or La Tourtuga. Have stayed at

have stayed both on and off the beach...both have their benefits...you'd have to make that preference before considering which one(s) will best suit your needs...although they are all good options......sonofdob

Playa Maya would be my choice:

Location is great, food is good, rooms and service are great.

Being right on the beach, early morning walks are perfect.

I dont think you can go wrong there

Playa Maya. Perfect for early to bed, early to rise folks, like us. I've watched the sunrise there about 140 times now.

From May-October, the VIP All-Inclusive plan at Aventura Mexicana includes all meals, snacks and drinks. Sweet deal.

Luna Blue is nice also, quiet at night and beautiful courtyard atmosphere.
