Diving
Ok, trip is planned to PDC end April at the La Tortuga. 8)
Please offer your recommendations of local dive operators for both ocean and cenote diving...is cenote diving nearby PDC or is it a further drive away from the coast? Thanks for any info you all may have. I'm an experienced diver and am bringing an u/w video setup to film as much as I can. Thanks - Paul |

Abyss,Phantomdivers, and Yucatek. I'm personally diving this time with Yucatek because of staying at Cas De Gopla. Will be there from May 27 to June 6. looking for anyone else around that time to dive with as wife is ow cert but will only dive 1 or 2 times. I have done lots of searching and all of the above are very reptuable dive operations it seems. Hope this is helpful.

I have been diving for 4 years with Abyss Dive Shop and have always had a great experience. Up to date equipment, small dive groups, friendly and very competent dive masters, and just all around good people. They offer reef and cenote dives.

Abyss/LaTortuga
Just got back from Playa yesterday. Dove with Abyss and stayed at La Tortuga. Both are wonderful. :P I'm relatively new to diving and Diego at Abyss literally held my hand until I was comfortable. He was wonderful. Also, the staff at LaTortuga were all so friendly and the hotel is beautiful and spotless. You'll love them both, I'm sure.

Reef Diving
Bottom line: all the dive shops go to the same places , and charge generally the same amount. Mostly. The difference is in the logistics (where's the shop, where does the boat leave from) and the guide (friendly? confident? understanding? capable?) and the conditions you end up with that day. I have friends at most of the shops and I'd go diving with all of them. Just make sure you go diving because it's a great thing to do. Cenote Cavern Diving I recommend doing a search for my prior comments and also follow the above link.
