re: Xahman-Ha
I thought the translation was "water of the north" but then again I zigged when I shudda' zagged once and that was worse ... no info on the condo but I think you will enjoy a visit to Avario Xahman-Ha in the playacar section of PDC ... I bet your condo is not far from it at all and for a modest fee you can see many of the birds of the Yucatan in a very nice setting ... any taxi driver knows where it is but you may be able to walk to it very easily ... I hope someone has info on the condo itself for you

Kjtom,
Although surely not an expert on PDC, I too thought it meant "water of the North". I think in a previous post, one of our more knowledgeable forum people discussed this, but haven't found the post yet.. I am sure one of them will let us know for sure.. |

Tommy and Donna,
Sunnamugun so it does show that...never noticed that before. I have been doing some research online in the last few minutes, and have found it as both, so now I am really mixed up!!! Since it is written as you say on here, I would think it is right. James and Anna seem to take great pride in making sure their info is correct. |

To my dear friend Dougie  and anyone else who's interested, I believe the correct translation for Xaman-Ha is "waters from the north". This is based on info that I obtained from the John Montgomery Dictionary of Maya Hieroglyphs on the FAMSI (Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies, Inc) web site and have provided below.

We stayed the week between Christmas and New Years. I believe our rate was $2100.Our unit was 7015, if you are familiar with the layout, at the back of the "u" shape. All condos can see the ocean and even though ours was on first floor, ours had a decent view also. The unit seemed to be for rental only. The furniture was adequate, not "nice", but not bad. The kitchen was the only disapointment. The sink and stove were old and I decided not to use the stove or the utensils (I am probably pickier than a lot of people,I have this clean thing..I live for antibiotic wipes...oh well.). The restaurants were great though, so we didn't care. Bonnie, the manager, was very helpful...an asset to the complex. One day she had gone to the hospital with a non spanish speaking guest. The bathrooms were clean and our shower was fine. We always had hot water. The pool was pretty clean...we have one ourselves, so we are kind of picky. The gounds were nice and seemed to be kept up nicely. The best thing about Xaman-Ha is the location. It was nice for our family to be on a little more private beach. It is only a 5 minute walk to 5th Street.

We can help you rent a condo in Xaman-Ha. Click here to read more about them and see photos. All condos are privately owned and thus differ a little bit, but all have the core amenities.
