James.... Isn't Viggo old enough to do that stuff for you?? They say kids have a natural knack for all that computer mumbo jumbo.... they don't freak out like we do when things get all "wonky".

Another good one for us is that Playa.Info helped us and Sol hook up and THEN we realized that we already knew each other IRL (from a brief stint in grad school at the same time in Arizona).

(Where is she lately, anyway?)

Thanks to James and Anna from Michigan as well, for giving me a place to come for my Winter Blues.

Eight years ago I did an Internet search for family vacations. I ended up on a family travel web site that had all inclusive hotels that were great for families. A number of hotels were in a place I had never heard of, Playa Del Carmen, MX.

This lead to an Internet search of Playa Del Carmen. One of the websites that came up was playa.info. A web site that honestly changed my life. What a great community of people.

After reading the posts on the web site we booked an August trip for the family to Playa Maya. As I thought about it I realized a husband and wife trip before the family trip would be more appropriate. Steve Ryberg at Playa Maya was impressed. A second trip booked before the first trip had even taken place.

Suddenly we were receiving packages from Amazon to bring down to Steve. Everything from pretzels to Miles Davis cd's to Dora the Explorer dvd's.

We met James, Anna and Heather. We even brought James an iPod mini when the were impossible to get (even though James is so anti apple).

We became very good friends with Steve Ryberg and his wife Delmy and their kids. And here we are eight years later sitting in a house we rented in Tankah Bay.

If not for an Internet search we never would have found playa.info, Playa del Carmen, Playa Maya or this piece of heaven on earth.

So thank you James, Anna and Heather for everything you do. We have gone from looking at all-inclusive hotels to renting a house in tankah, renting a car and eating at the taco carts by the bus station with the locals.

And one more small world aspect about this. Eight years ago we met Steve Ryberg of PlayaMaya over the Internet. He lived in Playa and I lived in Chicago. In June of this year we will both live outside of Denver, CO within 10 minutes of each other and Steve and his family will be the only people we know. Funny how life works out.

Thank you playa.info.
Similar story for us, 9 years ago while planning our 25th anniversary trip.

Not the Ryberg part, but the playa.info part. Met James and Anna on our first trip, their kids on subsequent trips.

A year from now we will be in Merida, looking for a house to rent and move to.

Yes I'm aware of where she teaches/works. I meant where is she lately, you know, as I hadn't seen her around here.

Same here. Playa.Info has become an important addition to my life. Met so many nice peeps through that forum and I am grateful for that. In addition I did some trips to parts in the US that I would probably never have gone to without PI (like Texas or North Carolina...). Now I just need to make it to one of the West Coast peep meets...

Aaaaand I will be back in Playa - just don't know when yet.

As a newbee in this place, I have to say: I have learned a lot and enjoy all the threads. This will be our second year going to PDC at Mahekal. The more I read the more I learn and the more we enjoy our vacation (anniversary) in Mexico. We own a timeshare in Cancun, but for the last two years we rented it and discovered PDC though playa.info. Thank you all the people that contribute to this.

Love it

PS. English is not my first language (Spanish is)

What a great thread!
I too found Playa.info 8 years ago. We are coming to Playa in July this year, and probably in August next year. Then we will bring my two sons and my daughter in law.

Thanks to Heather, Anna and James!
