Took the bus from 5th Juarez: $1.30

Get off at Akumal

Walk to beach

Snorkel

I saw:

5 Turtles

A school of thousands of 8 inch fish, solid color, with a huge barracuda in the middle of them. (what were these?)

A stingray

3 huge fish of some kind, very skinny and tall, silver with black outline/tips.

Lots of misc reef fish

Very shallow - 5 to 10 feet deep

Viz: decent

Very safe, I felt like I was in a Marine petting zoo!

Excellent place to snorkel, tons of life.

Hola',

When were you snorkeling in Akumal? We were there on 3/11 and saw the exact thing that you just described!! It was way too cool! :lol:

I was there on Friday I think!

It was AKUMAL BAY, not halfmoon or Yal-Ku, just free Akumal out front.

but we were there on thursday and saw the same school of fish surounding one huge fish, also swam with two turtles and one manta-ray.the coolest free snorkeling we did.muey bonito adios!!
