I thought I remember reading about Babes being sold and then they closed for remodeling, so I assumed it was new owners that did that.

DON SIRLOIN - We were disappointed to say the least especially after seeing so many great reviews. We went to the one close to 5th and it is white washed as we had read but so hot inside we almost did not stay and my wife and daughter are never too hot especially at night in March in PDC. I would compare DS to a US fast food cheap Mexican joint.

Yeah...my ex was never too hot either, but I would never say about my daughters.

The ownership of the Babes on calle 10 has not changed.

The Babes that was located on AV. 5 between calle 28 and 30 is a different story. The owners of Babes traspasaed (sp?) = sold their lease, the place was remodeled and became Buddies Cafe.

AbsoluteAL - So is that why the two nights we walked all the way to 28th to dine at Buddies it was closed? Property owners next door said they "had some problems" Buddies had great reviews on TA so that is why we were so excited to try it. Did it ever re-open? (see La Vagunda review above)

Buddies was closed for a brief period because 5 of its 7 workers quit = "had some problems".
Buddies is currenly open.
TA riews can be skewed.

Yes, if there were four buddies that owned BUDDIES instead of three buddies that currently own BUDDIES .

Love carboncitos. Ate at Don Sirloins for the first time this month and thought it was good but not great. We always eat at Babes and in the past have always loved it, but this time it fell a little flat. Food seemed different.
