Selling a car with Belize plates

Hello out there...just a new member, living in Tulum for the past few months and would like to sell my 96 Honda accord that I bought in Belize. Can the buyer put Mexico plates on it? Do I remove the Belize plates when I sell it? Can the car even be sold here????? help

It is illegal to sell or donate a foreign plated vehicle in Mexico.
I was here five years before I realized that.

You could always go back to Belize and sell it there. That way, there will be a record of you leaving the country with your car, which will match up with the fact that you don't have it anymore.

Pull it over to the side of the road, take the plates off, and walk away.

Seriously, I don't know. You might be able to sell the car (it will be illegal) if you can make sure there will be no paper trail that leads to your name.

How did you bring the car in?
Again, it's illegal to sell it here, but maybe you can find an unsuspecting expat to buy it.

Then your car is illegal now. It can be impounded (I've seen it done). Stay away from the airport.
