Akumal Night Snorkeling
The Akumal Dive shop is offering a night snorkeling tour that talks about seeing the Bioluminescent Plankton that is in the bay. Has anyone done this? I've read about it in Puerto Rico before but I was not aware it was in the Playa / Akumal region as well.

When we stayed at the Barcelo in February we noticed the waves appeared to be lighting up as they hit the reef while we were walking the beach one night.....we watched for a while and finally realized what we first assumed to be bioluminiscense was actually just dive lights from a group of divers out at the reef.

You have to turn off your lights & really move your arms around a lot to see it. I've seen it in Cozumel & Playa but it's not evident unless you really move your arms around. I have heard of the bioluminescent lakes/waters in & around P.R. and that's supposed to be spectacular.
