Airport Transfer back to cancun

Approximately how much time before your flight will a transfer pick you up at your hotel? I am planning on staying at one of the Barcelos. Is four to five hours the norm, and how much difference would it be if you take a private direct transfer vs. Funjet/Apple and the bus?

The reason I am asking is because I want to somewhat enjoy my last morning at the resort. If I have to leave at 7 am, that would not be fun.

They usually pick up 3 hours prior leaving an hour to get to the airport.

It usually takes less time. It also depends on the day.

Saturday is usually crazy and you may need the full 2 hours prior.

4 or 5 hours is excessive

The bus uses up the full hour so private is faster.

I usually stroll in about 1 hour 20 min prior but dop not suggest that

Barcelo is a bit farther than Playa so I would add about 20 minutes to above.

Funjet and Apple tend to want you at the airport three hours in advance, not the two hours before that is actually doable. They'll leave even more time for the drive (one hour), and if you haven't paid for an upgrade to non stop or private transfers, they'll leave extra time to stop at hotels to pick up other guests as well. So it is possible you could leave 5 hours before your flight, that's typical for a tour operator supplied transfer. On the other hand, if you book a private transfer back, which is something you can book on this site, you would have to be at the airport two hours in advance and leave one hour for the drive. So three hours before flight time is when you would leave the Barcelo.

Our airport transfers are always scheduled 3 hours in advance of a flight for hotels in Playa del Carmen and between 3.5 and 4 hours in advance of the flight for hotels located farther south along the coast (your time will vary depending on your resort). We do take into consideration the time of day, too (a tourist with a flight departing at 7 am will experience much less traffic than one whose flight departs at other times, for example).

Since I live here and fully understand that the only thing you can predict in Mexico is the unpredictable, I err on the side of caution. If guests ask me to alter their pickup time, I do so, once I've established that THEY are the ones then taking the risk of missing their flight.

You are not permitted to check in less than 1 hour in advance of a flight, but 2 hours in advance of a flight is recommended.
