Thats a bummer; we were planning on going back there this year; who else serves good huarache's?

That was always our first stop in town. Dump the bags/lunch at El Jurado and stock up at Mega. Place was packed on each occasion we went last month-wonder why the change. Probably adding those damn English menus a year or two ago was the beginning of the end

Hmm, well, I could be wrong--they might have closed for remodeling or something. I thought I noticed it more than a month ago. I will try to pass by and find out for sure before I scare everyone.

Panuchos

A local doctor friend took me to his favorite place for panuchos. It is called Sandra's on calle 4 between av. 15 and 20. It was very good, and filled with locals. Also had salbutes, polcanes, and brazo de la reina, all Mayan food, and all very good.

I´m just not sdure why anyone would go somewhere else to eat if there is an HC de Monterrey next door...

I had forgotten a forum member mentioned Flor de Luna has huarache's and I think Panucho's. Anyone familiar with this place?

El Jurado is completely different than HC. Corn based plates, and really good. Their rolled fried quesadillas (kinda like a giant flauta) are awesome. Wish we had one here in PA.

Like, if you don't care for really bad Uruguayan beef injected with tenderizer and artificial flavors?

Went last night to the original on 1st, which is back to HC from HC. Company was great, steak was....see above. Our friends liked it, but I want to turn them on to better, much better. Charred outside, mid-rare inside. Either at my house with my marinated beef from Sams or Taco Tengo, (if they are still around). Next trip we will show them.

Really a shame, I will never eat at HC again.
