So sad to find out that Levon Helm, drummer and singer from The Band, is in the final stages of throat cancer.
I know for many people this isn't worth being called news, but I sense that the generation prevelent on this board had some damn good times to the sound of The Band and the music they made. I know I sure have. I'm thinking about Mr. Helm today and trying my best to send good vibes his way, he certainy sent many good vibes my way over the years. I pray he's not suffering very much and not in pain. There's a special place 'up on cripple creek' just for you, Levon. Little Bessie is already there.

He has past, RIP. I also liked his movie roles too. Right Stuff, Coal Miners Daughter come to mind. |

RIP Levon
Along with his music from the Band, he produced some great stuff at his studio in Woodstock, NY. Held small intimate live shows called Midnight Rambles at his studio. A woman by the name of Tara Nevins from Ithaca, NY and a member of the band Donna the Buffalo made a beautiful record with him this last year. So did the Gourds from Austin TX. Two of my favorite artists. There are many others who he has touched. |

I was so sorry to hear this news- I loved Levon....
Just a couple of weeks ago we were lamenting that we couldn't make his show with Los Lobos in Hampton Beach, NH. He cancelled at the last minute (and Los Lobos played a small stage at the Ashworth Hotel, free, for those lucky enough to hear about it). We were afraid for Levon's health, though and I am kicking myself for missing other opportunities to see him in recent years. ![]() The other night I happened to find some old photos, and I just scanned them. These were from Mount Watatic, Ashby, MA in 1984. ![]() ![]() ![]()
