Playacar Palace Change
So we've been looking for our november trip and one resort that was on our radar was the playacar palace. Looked like a great location for heading into town, hitting the ferry, and i really liked the modern architecture.
Ive read somewhere that the PP is turning into another resort...a Leblanc maybe? I see that I can book it up to November, then after that there is no availability, so I am assuming that is when it is converted. Does anyone know if this in fact the case...that they are converting to a LeBlanc and that this is going to happen mid November'ish? |

I heard a rumor about that last year, that it would turn into a LeBlanc that would take families (as opposed to the one in Cancun that is adults only). But, I did a site inspection of Playacar Palace at the end of January and there was no mention of it turning into a LeBlanc. They are building their own spa and said they were adding a new pool (small) to make some of the ground floor rooms swim up suites, but that was as far as the updates went. I would think this is something that would be mentioned to travel agents if things were going to change.
I can book it past November, into 2013 in fact - still as Playacar Palace too. IF it does turn into a LeBlanc, I'd book it now while the prices are still at the Playacar Palace rates. If it does change over, well, at least you're booked in at a lower price! ![]() If you want to know for sure, try e mailing. jsierra [at] palaceresorts.com That's Jorge Sierra, sales manager at Playacar and Cozumel Palace. |

we were looking at the last 2 weeks in nov this year. it shows avail for the first week but not the second week. after you wrote that you could book to 2013 i did check out dec and it did show availability again. maybe theyre shutting down for that last week in nov for some of the construction theyre doing, or a big top-to-bottom clean or something

Well you're right, that last week of Nov. shows no availability. Looks like 11/16 is the last day I can price it for an arrival. But it doesn't sound likely that they would shut down during Thanksgiving week - one of the busiest times of the year. So not sure what's going on, best to e mail and see if they're give you an answer.

That was my thinking too. Just kind of odd to be sold out now for Thanksgiving. Don't know of any other hotel that's already sold out yet. That too seems odd but - with other Palace resorts changing over to Hard Rocks and all their time share people, who knows?

Playacar Palace
If you call in as a member they will likely tell you they are sold out. They did that to us for May. I called back and when they asked if I was a member I told them no. All of the sudden they had availability for the same dates...

Well I can't book it even as an agent, all the suppliers I use show Thanksgiving week as sold out, and I'm not looking for a member, but for someone who just wants to book a trip there. I could be that availability opens up at some point too, because like I said, to see the hotel sold out now for Nov. is quite strange. They could be controlling bookings and releasing inventory, well, whenever they feel like it.
