Thanks for the info. It is good to know that someone already calls if there is a number on the tag. I guess it was obvious, but I guess not everyone knows that Sylvie is doing it. Good on her! I know that a lot of people work very hard to save as many of these dogs as possible. Its heartbreaking when everyone is full and the dogs can`t be saved. My focus is on seeing if the probability of having the dogs reunited with their original owners could improve. That way, as you say, there would be more space for the shelters to take more of the dogs.

If the situation is that some of the locals don`t know how to find the perrera, don`t know that there is a perrera that might have their dog that they could get back etc. then outreach could help. If the situation is really that they don`t want the dog back then it probably won`t.

Many of you have been working on these problems a lot longer than I have, but some times fresh ideas can be helpful.

I've made donations in the past. But I'm wondering since there are several animal rescues if I should stick with one group or spread donations around?

sharing is good. there are many associations made of good people that save animals, and every one of them needs financial help as they depend on donations. so sharing is the best option

Yes, true. All of the "saved" dogs are looking for homes.

It's day 1 for this dog. I feel bad for this one. It clearly had an owner, but a not very nice one (look at the chain).

That's what I do too.

Perhaps someone could post a link to SOS El Acra (with their permission) on the first page of this thread so if people would like to make donations to this VERY worthy cause, they will know where to do so.
