Many people do just that. Seems like 130 days is about right. November to March works for us. Get a agent to rent your home for the rest of the year.

We've thought about it for years. We definitely wanted a place to go for a few months in the winters....and we've been to Playa every winter for the last 8 years.... but just this March we ended up buying in Florida. Just decided we wanted to be more confident of our ownership, closer to home, on US soil.... among other things.

I don't think we'll ever stop going to Playa for vacations, though... we love it too much....

Jimbo where you from? There is a large number of snowbirds that head to Playa in the late fall to escape winter. Over the years we have increased time spent away from our cold winters and now are out of the cold for 4 months. Doesn't need to be Playa but needs to be warmer than the southern US. However, I find Playa to be the destination of choice because it is easy.

We have been spending the 1st week of Jan to 1st week of April in Playa for over 10 yrs . A few of those yrs we had to pay our rent in U.S. dollars and the Xchange rate was $1.60 CDN to buy $1.00 U.S. It is nice having the dollars close to par now.

The beach is great, you can have a social life here, or just relax. Love that I can walk to do my banking, shopping, exercising, swimming, dining out and socializing. If transportion is need plenty of cabs, collectivos etc.

As I am a guest of Mx for three months , and also trying to keep the brain cells active, I have put an effort into learning spanish. Each yr I have to review what I had learned the yr. before.

Great place to spend the winter

Wife and I are from Ontario, Canada and have been toying with idea of spending few months per yer around Playa. Have been coming and staying in AI resort for 3 years in a row now. Love the area but not sure where to start on finding suitable accomadations. Any tips on where to start or who to contact?

I've been coming down twice a year since 98, staying at AI's. The past fall I decided to take the plunge and have been here since Nov. I'm going back in June. I love it so much that I will be back next Oct to do it again. Give me your email address and I will send you the contact info for my agent.
