Buy a couple of small pouches...you can find them in Playa..(those embroided ones on a string and wear them around your neck..they have them big enough for a camera too.

I bought one of those in Playa years ago and use it here in Dallas whenever I go out. Still holding up!!

Wow, Jimmy, you have had some real losses. Mine was not bad in comparison.

Our losses can always be worse even when they are a PITA at the time. It doesn't appear my cards were used but everything has to be replaced of course. Still having your card used is really low. I think we'll both be doing things differently next May!!

Maddison - so so sorry you lost your bag. And I'm so upset to hear that someone actually used your card!
At least you will get your $$ back, but the hassle of new cards and new license etc. just sucks.

Steve, that isn't true. She had her large bag when she left. I walked Michelle to the taxi and Danny rode with her to her hotel. Danny held her larger bag in the taxi, because I asked him to hold the top shut.

Michelle, I didn't see your camera or small purse at the Dirty Martini and you didn't have them when you got in the taxi. You had your larger bag with the top open. I WAS looking around at the ground by the steps because another person sitting with you had her bag open and stuff was falling out and I was picking up things and putting them back in her bag. (not a camera or small purse, though.) I also noticed Greco picking up trash by the steps and on the street, so I know it wasn't lying there on the ground. I carried your bag from the Dirty Martini to the taxi while holding the top closed. I'm so sorry Michelle. I wish at the time I would have known that you were missing things.

I hope you don't suspect Danny. He has a big honest heart (and paid for the taxi)

In case anybody wonders, Danny and I both got into the taxi with Michelle, and then we stopped the taxi when I realized I left MY bag at the Dirty Martini. I got out and went back, and Danny continued on with Michelle. My bag was exactly where I had left it, on the floor close to the steps, with nothing missing.

Lesson learned. BE VERY CAREFUL of your ID and ATM cards and secure them to yourself some how. I had my wristlet purse in a larger bag with a flap that came open at some point. Watch how much you drink. Do not take just one way to access cash.
I am lucky I did not have more taken from me, as others have on this trip, such as a passport.
Getting a replacement drivers' license will be a hassle as well.
I can't replace the pictures on my camera, which sucks the most. At least it wasn't an expensive, good camera.

I'm guess that your ATM card was an ATM / Debit card, correct? If it was a straight ATM I don't see how anything could ever be charged on it. I have 3 ATM accounts, they can ONLY be used for cash, and I own no debit cards. Two of my ATM cards are just used for vacations, the 2nd one being a back-up.

Yeah-that could factor into it. I didn't search it,but I seem to recall her losing a camera on a previous trip also. Maybe it should be drinking or photography on a given evening.

Kathy, heck no, I would never suspect any of my friends taking my stuff! I held out on contacting my bank for a while, but I thought maybe one of our group had it.
Elysium, I have not lost any camera or any other item before. I have, though, had bad luck with my cameras breaking/stopping to work in Playa. But, I got your drift. Will avoid joining group again.
Yes, it was quite a day. I am sorry if anyone thinks that I have this much "fun" on a continual basis and am this irresponsible.

I found a plain black one at the dollar store on Elm the first time we met at Campisi's for a peep meet..I know you have seen me wearing it around my neck..it's perfect for a small camera and it's easy to grab when I want to take a pic.

Maddison, I'm sorry that happened to you. You just gotta lower your trust expectations when you are out in public. There is always someone ready to steal your stuff...just make it alot harder for them.

I'm jealous I wasn't there. I'm the girl that will lose something, insist it was stolen, only to find it the next day in my purse. I left my wallet in a cab a couple months ago. Never got it back. I was too gone to remember the name of the cab company.

we don't think that at all, you just let your guard down a little and someone took advantage. Don't stop being your fun loving self because of this. I always have a bag that I can put across my body, but I did notice this trip (mostly because of my sunburn) that I didn't wear it the way I'm supposed to wear it. Instead I was placing it on the tables or the chairs of wherever we were at, so you see, everyone lets their guard down once in a while.

I hope this doesn't stop you from doing group stuff again. This is about a jerk that stole your things, not about judging your actions. It could have happened to any of us.
