My Dippy Moment

Seems like a lot of us are having dumb moments this week in Playa so I thought I'd share mine. Today while on Fat Cat I somehow managed to flip my digital camera, which was attached to my wrist, into my glass of yummy rum punch!

We'll see what Mexican bread can do as my drunk camera is now sitting in a ziplock bag with a big loaf of wheat bread.

Aside from this moment of dip sh*ttery we had a blast once again!

Bread?
I've heard of using rice

Rice works like a dream, most of the time. Make sure the battery is out, the card and anything that can open. After a few days it will, hopefully, be fine. Unfortunately, I have had a lot of experience in that department regarding phones (5) and a camera.

It always surprises me how well electronics can dry with little ill-effect.

In your case, I would be more concerned with the rum and juice junk left after the water evaporates. I'm very curious to hear how it works out.

Well, the memory card and battery work fine thus far but camera is still out of commission. Transferred camera from bag o' super crunchy bread to bag o' rice in hopes that it'll work but I agree with James and am more concerned that the punchy stickiness is the problem.

Oh well...older camera and the punch was awesome. Gonna try bringing to National Camera back home for cleaning.

Currently going old school by purchasing a couple underwater disposables. Totally odd taking pics and not being able to see 'em after!

I hope your camera can be restored. Think about buying an olympic Tough Stylus. It's waterproof and even comes with a wrist band that floats. Works great in and out of the water.

I'm needing a new camera for upcoming trips. I'm going to look into this Tough Stylus. Does it take good underwater pics?

I did something like that a couple times .. what I did to get rid of the rum etc. residue was take the card/battery out and rinse the camera in distilled water ( gallon is like $3 up here ) then drying method of your preference. What the heck .. it was wet anyway lol. Worked in both cases.

I have a pretty easy recipe for rum punch. light rum, mount gay (or a rum this color, but not spiced), orange juice, pineapple juice. 4 count each of above rums into a glass packed with ice. add oj and pineapple, splash of grenadine and dark rum floater on top. Very strong, but tasty. Oh yes, lime wedge. Used to make these when I was a bartender and an exboyfriend gave me the recipe. He went to one of the Caribbean islands and got it from a bartender there.
