Oh man

That is heartbreaking. Awful.

Not sure how they are going to prove it was not just a miscommunication, but good luck to him!

I've been following this one for awhile. On the surface it looks bad for Princess and since I cruise on this line I know I would have not been satisfied just telling crew members. I would have made sure the captain or those just below him knew about it right away.

This is tragic, really. I hadn't heard this story until now. And I'm with Mnbruce: the people that spotted the stranded boat didn't follow up on their crew notification for 3 days? Based on this short article, my vote would probably go towards a terrible miscommunication.

Jeff Gilligan, one of the cruise ship passengers who said he saw the stranded fisherman and alerted the cruise ship's crew, told CNN last month that he took a picture of the fishing boat from about two miles away.
But a boat lost at sea is spotted by a guy named Gilligan?!

it's almost too uncanny to be real!

ETA: I don't mean to laugh at the situation, it is very tragic and I think the cruise line should be held responsible.
