HELP with an All Inclusive
Hi Everyone! I need your help. I'm so confused with all these options of hotels in Playa. Here's what I am looking for and hopefully one of you can make suggestions. My husband and I stayed at the RIU Palace Riviera Maya two years ago and loved it. We loved the vibe, the people, the location, but my husband doesn't want to stay in a RIU again because we have stayed in that hotel other places as well. He wants to try something new. We are traveling with other couples for a fun trip without children. We are looking to go August 2-8. I think I find a hotel and then I read peoples reviews and I change my mind. We are looking for a fun hotel. We are in our mid thirties and we like to drink, party, and dance. Not crazy, just have fun. We love Coco Bongo. We want a hotel that celebrates that. Also, we want a hotel that is all inclusive and doesn't have a lot of children. I have four little children of my own, so I want to go on vacation and not have to deal with tons of other peoples children. Not trying to be mean, but just want a little escape. I've looked at the Royal Playa Del carmen and that looks really nice. I've checked out the Barcelo's, but in the videos it looks like they are great for families! I don't want a stuffy adults only hotel that caters to all romance. I want a nice super fun gorgous all inclusive with a great beach and a fabulous pool. Does that exist in Playa or should I be looking in Cancun? Please Help!

We just got back from NOW Sapphire Riviera Cancun and LOVED LOVED LOVED IT! Not sure how close to Playa this is but we did take a short taxi ride into Puerto Moreles (sp?) and had a blast there. Have fun planning and dreaming of being there

The Royal in PDC will suit you just fine! It is adults only and there is such a broad range of clientele at this resort - younger and older couples, friends trips, girls trips, wedding groups with singles, etc. It's a very active atmosphere compared to some of the other adults only resorts. However, adults only resorts don't cater to just the romantic crowd - you will typically find a mixed clientele at many other adults only resorts as well. And ya know, it's what you bring to the resort too. If you have a group of couples, you have built in fun so I really wouldn't exclude any adults only resort. Some are more laid back than others but any resort can be a happening place depending on who's there at that time. The Royal is in the thick of things, because of it's location, and is known to be a hoppin place so a good choice, yes. Know that there is NO WAY to avoid children if you don't book an adults only resort. August is peak family travel time and if a resort takes kids, there will be kids, and possibly a lot of them. So don't plan on finding a resort that is "sort of" adult friendly because that doesn't exist. If you prefer not to be around kids, then bottom line - book adults only.

Not close to Playa at all really, it's a very pricy taxi ride to town - about $40 one way. And..it's very family friendly, there should be lots of families in August. I was there in January when kids should have been in school and there was a lot of them! I liked Sapphire but transferred out to Secrets Silversands after two nights. Silversands is an active adults only, I was there with a friend (for the 2nd time) and didn't feel out of place at all. They have a great outdoor bar open until 1am, it's a lot of fun there!

Thank you so much for that info. I love reading this forum. August was the only time that worked for the adults (all of our kids are back in school by then). I will check out the silver sands hotel. I am Not a travel agent but i do enjoying looking for hotels. Therefore, i got the job of picking the hotel for everyone! Big job to make everyone happy!!
Thanks, Kara |
