Hi thinking of booking a holiday to Playa Del Carmen in September this year. Wanted to stay centrally located in a 5 star all inclusive. Have looked at Blue Bay Grand and Grand Sunset Princess. Which one is nearer to the centre of Playa Del Carmen, or can any one recommend a 5 star all inclusive that is centrally located (No Taxis) as I hate getting taxis everywhere. If taxis are the only choice how much would this be? Do either of these hotels have a bus shuttle service or can you walk to Playa Del Carmen?
Many Thanks |

Thanks again, for the replies, think they are both out of our price range. Really want to stay in or around Playa Del Carmen, happy to be walking distance from the main places, I would say 10 to 15 minutes so close enough without having to get taxis all the time. Me and my husband like to walk everywhere! Just want a really nice hotel, all inclusive 4 or 5 star as the tend to be better. When you review hotels on tripadvisor there is always someone who does like what they have to offer. This is holiday of lifetime for us and stretching our budget, so need to choose carefully. Don't know if we should book direct with hotel or go through travel agents, the flights are very expensive (flying from Manchester).
Any other help or advise would be appreciated. Thanks |

I would think that MOST of your 4 or 5*'s would pretty much be lumped in the same price range.
There are several AI's located in Playacar. Most should be within walking distance (albeit a long, hot walk) I'm not much of an AI person, but I stayed at the Iberostar Tucan, which was perfect for me. Also, Viva Maya Wyndham (which I think is no where near 5*, but as close as I'll ever get to one). I felt pampered at both places....doesn't take much to impress me! |

The Blue Bay and Grand Princess are not that close to town, both would require a taxi. You need something in Playa or Playacar and while you mention 5*, I'm not sure you have the budget for that. As mentioned, look at the Gran Porto Real or try the Riu Yucatan, Riu Tequila, Riu Palace Riviera Maya, Viva Maya or Viva Azteca, Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal or Sandos Playacar.

Many Thanks to all you guys, planing to holiday 8th September to the 22nd, so a little way off yet but something to look forward to. I am going to ask another favour though, the whole reason why we are booking this trip is so we can swim with dolphins. As I have always wanted to do that. I want to choose an ethical company that isn't rip us off. Its also our wedding anniversary while were are there, only two years, but have been together for 24! So any really nice restaurant ideas would also welcomed.
Thanks Helen |
