Party thread

It's Saturday. It's June and still raining. I just made a nice sweet, spicy dry rub and rubbed down a pork butt. It will sit until tomorrow morning and hit the smoker. The guys will show up around 6:30 pm tomorrow for pulled pork sandwiches, slaw and beer. Game 2 of the Oregon Ducks super regional starts at 7:00 pm.

Rain or shine, we are going to party.

No. It's more a "Girls welcome, but not interested" situation.

Quiet saturday after two days off... Euorpean football (not american football ) championship started yesterday and Teezetland lost today while AndiandJoana-land won. Actually I don't really care who will be the european soccer champion but it is fun to bet with the colleagues (although I have no clue whatsoever).

Still trying to convince my sister to come to Italy with me in 10 days. My parents already took down the travel bed for my niece and more stuff as well but my sister still has a lot of fears to overcome. I hope that her commonsense will win in the end because she DOES want to come. We have fond memories of our friends (that we have known for 32 years) and the island of Sardinia itself as well. Might be the last chance as my parents are not getting any younger and without them (and their car) there is not point in going down....

I hope she comes with you! I will gladly take her place, if not. Although, there's the tiny issue of getting there.....

Going to my first indoor football game tonite. Bought tickets for me and a buddy for his birthday. New for both of us old godgers.
Thought about going to the demolition combine derby in a small town north of here. Always fun to watch old combines go at it.

An extra dozen sausages are on standby just in case my buddy's 17 year old son shows up. That skinny boy can EAT! Slaw, corn on the cob, and cherry pie will roumd out tomorrow's menu.

I'm sitting in the backyard by myself, in the non rain, with a beer. It's a good day. Party on.

I am getting ready to cook some salmon and asparagus and then put some olive oil, vinegar, and dijon mustard dressing on them, served over a bed of mixed greens dressed with the same dressing.

Tomorrow morning I am making my lime-ginger yams to take to a potluck brunch for an old, dear friend who is in town from back east. She grew up in this valley and then moved.

I like all the ways you think of to cook salmon. Lime ginger yams sound interesting. Recipe?

Next time, contact me...maybe, just maybe I can find the time/money to get there....
But, don't wait for her...always a point in going there if you love it.
I really want to go back to Italy, and the Sardinia food was THE BEST I had in Italy

Excellent recipe--one that has been used in our house since Kathy made it for us

The sun is out and the pork is in the smoker. Now it's time to wait.

Hope you have a great time, Dana! (I'm still trying to come up with a snappy comeback to your "rubbed down a pork butt" line...)
