Headed to RPDC Monday
My boyfriend, me, and two other couples are headed down to the Royal Monday morning!! This will be my second visit to the Royal. I booked our rooms today using the hotel's web site. A little disappointed we didn't get on the Coba side, but we booked room 297. Anyone have pics or stayed there? I've seen pics from 397 and it looks nice.
Thanks |

As a matter of fact, I stayed in that very room - for one night anyway! I actually ended up moving to a room very close to the lobby because it was just too loud in 297, the noise from the pool in the afternoon and early evening was obnoxious (to me) when I was trying to work and/or relax after being out on the beach all day. If you don't mind some possible pool noise, it should be fine for you. That room does have double beds though.
Now I always take a room in the Coba building facing Constituyentes and very close to the beach (usually try for and get 344 or 345). Quiet, great view too. Here's the view from 297: |

If you check the online check in later sometimes other rooms open up. I've changed rooms the next day after "checking in" the night before. We've stayed in 399 and you could definitely hear noise from the tradewinds bar below but it wasn't too bad but will be louder on the 2nd floor for sure. Have a great time we are headed back there for our 4th stay in october. We really enjoy the resort and the location.

Thanks for the info. Shammy, I really hope they have changed those double beds to a king because it said it was a king when I did the check in and it says that on our travel documents as well. We'll see! I may try to check back in in a little bit for better rooms on the third floor.

I just checked the current map and it now say that room does have a king bed! It sure didn't when I was there but it was a few years ago when I had that room, and before the rooms were renovated. Looks like they now have that room as one with a king bed - so you should be fine!

What's the pesos? Do you mean the exchange rate? 13.38 What it is now will surely be different in December. I would use a travel agent. |

![]() You can book the air/hotel package with an agent and not have transfers included, then book whatever you want to use for a transfer on your own. |

I don't know how booking a transfer through the hotel can save "a ton" as opposed to booking it with an agent.
I guess it depends on the price that agent is giving you, and for what kind of transfer. The hotel will provide a standard shared shuttle, which is what tour operators also provide and there is no real price difference there, about $90 r/t. A private transfer you arrange yourself would only cost about $20 more than that shared shuttle.
