Hi everyone!
Hi! I've been reading this forum in preparation for our upcoming trip to Playa Del Carmen. My husband and I love to travel and have gone to Cancun three times. We are looking forward to our trip to Playa later this summer. It seems like it will be a smaller less developed area. We are planning on going to one of the smaller hotels but haven't made up our minds yet. Thanks for all the great information that I've already received from your site.

Playa versus Cancun? Playa is a totally different world. A totally different vibe. You may not want to go back to Cancun. Well...unless you like the Cancun vibe

We were in Cancun in 1997, 2000 and 2007. The last time we went it was a little too busy and crowded for our taste. We still loved it but wished we could go to a smaller less commercialized town. I think Playa Del Carmen will be what we want. I enjoy going to Mexico for the food, the culture and so I can practice my Spanish. I studied it for a few semesters in school and still remember enough to get by. I taught my husband a few phrases like una cervesa, por favor, cuanto cuesto (which is important for shopping), donde esta el bano and vamos a la playa.

Thank you. We've decided to stay at Mahekal. It looks like a beautiful small resort which is just what we are looking for. I've been reading your board for a while in preparation for the trip. All of the nformation here has been very helpful.
