Mamita's is Annoying

We just got back from Playa and had another fabulous stay at Mahekal. OMG, that place is just so great. This was our second time there and we almost had to pinch ourselves at how perfect everything was.

EXCEPT the fact that Mahekal is 2 properties down from Mamita's Beach Club. Why oh why is that place allowed to BLAST the music as loud as they do? It is ridiculous. The music was so loud, that we could hear it full blast everywhere on the Mahekal property - even inside our room with the air conditioning on, the shutters closed and earplugs in our ears. Non-stop, repetitive, thumping, monotonous house music that was enough to send us off the deep end. And this is AFTER several cocktails at happy hour!

Aren't there any regulations about volume levels of places like this? Why are they allowed to have the volume up so loud that everyone down the beach is forced to listen to that noisy music?

There are regulations, it is the enforcement that is a little intermittent.

I'd tell management at Mahekal that you'll consider returning when you can no longer hear the thumping.

I thought about saying something to Mahekal management. Do you think there is anything they can really do about it?

Well, they're going to have more leverage than you or I. Generally, when individuals or businesses feel their pocketbook threatened, they're inclined to take steps to avoid that.

I won't go to Mamitas/Kool because of the "music". It would be interesting to take a poll to see if the patrons really like the music.

I have never liked either club. I just want to relax and listen to the waves and the birds...not thumping and people yelling to each other over the music.

Was at Mamitas in March. Didn't hear any annoying music, not sure there was any music at all in fact. Maybe they start playing it later in the day?

The obnoxious music starts in the afternoon...sometime around 2 or 3, and goes on until the early evening. Several hours of headache-inducing noise.

One of you mentioned earplugs. Would you believe I could still hear the music in our room, with the shutters closed, the air conditioning on, and with dense earplugs in my ears?

I think I will email Mahekal about this. What can it hurt? I am sure I won't be the first person who has complained about it.

Email Mahekal about the noise at Mamitas. It will NOT change anything (i.e., the noise level) at all.

What can it hurt? It won't hurt anything and might make you feel better.

I am sure I won't be the first person who has complained about it. I assure you that you are not the first to complain and you definitely won't be the last!

And be assured that the noise level will remain high.

And on a lighter note...........there are boxing matches at Mamitas this coming Saturday night at 7pm. I think that admission is free.
