We've had drivers tell us they wouldn't go to Santa Fe. I figure the driver knows that we know what the fare is because of where we live and can't try and stick us with the 'tourist rate'. We get out and usually the next one takes us home. .

One cab drivers tried to screw us when he drove us from Coco Bongo to the corner of Calle 38/5th Ave. Earlier in the week we used a cab many, many times and paid 20 pesos for the same ride. When I got out that night and handed him the 20 pesos bill, he asked for fifty. When I refused, he became angry.

Since Arena Blanca has a doorman and I was too drunk to argue in a coherent Spanish, the doorman argued for me and we got away.

Definitely know your rates.

Good advice. The correct charge for that trip is 25 Pesos.

Yes. Zone one is considered the "tourist zone" so you pay more. The further away you are from Playacar the less you pay. For the most part.

Thanks.
I definitely got taken ( my own fault) on my rides from Playacar to 38th last year, but will be more confident this go around.

Fortunately for us, our condo is located just a couple of blocks inside the gate to Playacar Phase 2. So we normally have the taxis drop us off at that outdoor shopping center at the end of 10th Avenue. Cheaper than crossing into Playacar, and just short walk home from there. 70 pesos is just too much to pay for a relatively short drive.

That sounds like a smart move.
Unfortunately the villa we stay at is in the far southwest part of Playacar, so 70 pesos each way. We do have a car, but I would rather enjoy a few margs so 70 pesos is not a bad trade off.

Hi,
Why is it so expensive to Playacar. It seems like a rip to me. I guess we get out before we enter Playacar. Thanks
