Wow what a blast
We had our best trip yet from the June 30th to July 5th
In general our service was pretty good, but the service at beach clubs vs. what it was in the past was way down. Stayed at Luna Blue again, nothing flashy just very reliable. Great experience with Taxi's this time as the Far part of Farbil had a blister issue, so we Taxied to Akumal instead of Collectivo. That was a great day. Also, if your adventurous, a decent swimmer, athletic and love fish I HIGHLY recommend spearfishing. I went twice, the first day Far went too, I hit one small Snapper the and Leo, the guide/owner, got a horse eyed Jack. They cleaned the snapper and gave us about a fourth of the Jack. this was about 1:30 in the afternoon, so we went to Coco Maya(200 meters from where we got off the boat) and they cooked it up for us, and provided sides for $7USD each. It was the best meal I had eaten to date. The second time it was me and a father/son on the boat. I had no luck but it was a blast, absolutely amazing time. Had tons of great shots and was able to hold my breath longer and relax and go deeper than the first time, I just missed. Once again Leo came through and got a Permit(related to a Pompano) that fed me, my wife the father/son, 2 sisters and a wife. We figured we would try a different rest with the fresh fish this time. Several restaurants on 5th looked at us like we were crazy, but Eric at El Carnicero came through for us. 70 pesos each, side items, tortillas, everything except alcohol. Well the lunch at Coco Maya lasted 2 days as my best meal ever. I know the freshness of the meat helps, but the service was amazing and these guys cooked the fish to perfection. One point, spearfishing does build up a ridiculous appetite snorkeling/freediving for hours with a weight belt on in the pretty strong currents that exist in PDC, so I am sure that contributed. |

We paid 250 pesos to get there, 300 to get back. Our driver that took us said it should be the same price on the way back not what is posted at the sign in Akumal. I just said ok to the guy rather than arguing and sitting in a cab with someone PO'd for 30 min.
