Was in Starbucks today with two friends. Two of us have older children; one had her little one. Suddenly, a 1 year old child behind us let out a long, long blood curdling shriek--and I mean LOUD--so loud I dropped my phone and had that tinnitis ring in my ears for about 10 minutes. The reason: his mother had taken away the straw he had been dragging along the top of a garbage can. The woman was totally embarrassed. My friend with the three year old said, "Oh gee, my kid neeeever does that" and then burst out laughing. My friend with older kids said, "My 13 year old still sounds like that... the only difference is that now words come out with it."
So not only does it happen to us all, sometimes it doesn't ever end....
