The Royal PDC questions?

I'm going to the Royal in two weeks with my family!! I'm 17 and my brother is 18 and I was just wondering since this is an adult resort will we feel out of place there? Also what is the best side to stay on? And for me being 17 will I get a different wristband than the other guest? Or will it be the same as everybody else?
P.S With the wristband question I would like to enjoy some drinks but I'm not going with the sole purpose of drinking. My idea of fun does not involve me having my head in the toilet puking sick.

It's a very active resort, you might feel a little odd because there won't be many (or any) 17/18 yar olds there, but just join in with the activities and you should be ok.

I can't imagine they won't give you a different color bracelet because you are not old enough to drink, they need the bartenders to know this. Not saying you can't find a way around that, but you probably won't be able to order your own drinks.

There are no "sides" to stay on, just different buildings. It really depends on which room category you have. Most people prefer the Coba and Tulum buildings since they face the interior to the resort and/or the pool.

Thanks Shammy, anyway with my brother being 18 he'll get me drinks and I can always head over to the Gran Porto Real to find teens my age.

Also for the restaurants with men having to wear pants and closed toe shoes, are jeans and normal sneakers acceptable? Or is it a little more formal than that?

Jeans and sneakers are fine - but jeans in that kind of heat are going to be a killer. You'd probably be much more comfortable in something like khakis, or lighter cotton pants. My kids are 17 and 20 and they have some cotton pants - Volcom, Billabong - those kinds of brands that you can get at a surf shop or similar (or online - PacSun.com, etc). Up to you though.

That's a pretty smart statement from a 17 year old! I know a lot of 40-somethings who could benefit from this sentiment (myself included a few times a year ).

Have a great time Brandon...we stayed at the GPR last year, and don't remember seeing a lot of older teens, but you will find plenty of people young and old on 5th avenue just a block up from your resort.

Not really an issue; most of the year, there are extremely few teenagers at the Royal. I don't recall seeing any on our last stay there back in February.

Trust me: once you've been there for about half an hour, you'll be hooked!
