Spider Bite
Anyone been bitten by a spider?
I was bitten yesterday (it was definatley a spider, I killed it) on my foot, inside my Croc. There was a pain like my toe rubbing against something rough and when I pulled off the shoe to see what's rubbing, out comes a spider that I promptly killed. Then I noticed two red bumps on the toe where the pain was I knew right away what they were. They are still bright red with like a white center "boilish" looking. On line it recommends be current with a tetnus shot, I'm actually scheduled to have one in a couple months. So when I called the Doctors to see about moving it up they want look at it today. I don't think it's a problem but very strange looking!! ![]() I'll let you know later how it turns out. |

I have been bitten by dogs, kids and a really bad date once (whole story behind that), but never by a spider. I will give you the same advice you gave me when I slammed my finger and it blew up with unknown colors; go to the doctor. Tetnus for a spider bite? I didn't know they used it for that. I hope all goes well.

I know it was a black spider, but you know when a spider gets killed they kinda' shrivel, this did.
Googling spider bite the "brown recluse" is only found in the southern US, this actually happened in my office at work in a pretty modern building. Looking at the bites a few minutes ago I'm glad I made the dr. appointment, not painful or itchy just strange looking! |

With all spiders, the venom breaks down tissue causing it to liquify so the spider can suck it up like a shake through a straw. Infection is the biggest problem with any bite. The center of the bite rots, more or less, based on the venom of the species. Ranging from an itch, to an ulcer that takes forever to heal. Have it looked at, scrub the hell out of it often, take antibiotics if necessary. Last edited by Uno; 07-19-2012 at 01:55 PM.. |
