Great trip report and pics! I think I can shed some light on your charge for loungers and the reason for the dealy of wifi password.

In your photos the loungers you are in do not belong to Wah Wah. They belong to the restaurant/hotel next door. Also you mentioned you had great tacos and Wah's does not serve those. The beach chairs at Wah Wah are all white and the umbrellas are all blue and they do not charge for them if you are patronizing the restaurant. Might be why "mosquito" had such a hard time providing you with the wifi password!

Glad that you had a great vacation!

Tulum and Snorkeling!

DAY 5 - EDVENTURE SNORKEL TOUR

Today we woke up super early to get ready for our Snorkel Tour with Edventure tours. I was going to do the solo trip to Tulum and Akumal but I felt like I'd get more out of doing a tour with a tour group. I researched on tripadvisor and found Edventure.

I have to recommend them.. this was one of our favorite days of our whole trip! They packed in a lot for us to do but we didn't feel overwhelmed and we got to see a lot.

We ended up paying $105 pp - pricey for our budget but this was probably one of the few things we splurged on.

They picked us up at our hotel at 8am with two other couples from other resorts. It was a small group which I was really happy about. At the same time Joel and I were really happy to associate with other people.. I think we were tired of our own conversations with each other.. we NEEDED other people to talk to. There's only so many times you can say how much you're happy to be on vacation with that person til you're tired of that person. LOL!!!

We arrived at Tulum and the offices of Edventure Tours. Signed in and they gave us our tickets for Tulum and the trolley.

The hubby and I and one of the other couples stayed together while we walked Tulum. That day was hotttt as all hellllll... I had left my cap back in my bag at the office.. so let's just say I was super tan when I left Tulum! I put on plenty of sunblock but with sweat and the blazing sun... I was bound to get darker.

Tulum is beautiful!! That beach was gorgeous.. I really want to return and jump in that water. We chose not to this time since we were going to be headed off to Akumal right after. We had a full day of snorkeling coming right up.

Right after Tulum we got into a van and they drove us to Dos Ojos Cenote.

'

Our tour instructor Balan was amazing. He taught us a lot about the Underground Caves and river. We felt safe with him and for a slow swimmer as myself.. he waited for me when I would slow things down for everyone. haha..

I had ordered an underwater iphone cover so that I could take pics and video with my phone. I was terrified at first to use it cause yes.. I LOVE MY IPHONE. After buying the case.. I was really close to not even using it in fear of ruining my phone. But, I took a chance and it paid off. These pics are from my phone.

and here's a link to the pics they took us with their camera as well:

The underground cave snorkeling was amazing... I've never seen anything like that before. We were in a bat cave and I thought I was going to freak out but it was still so cool.

here's video of the underwater cave I took:

After the Cenote, they drove us to Akumal Beach to Snorkel with the turtles..
What a beautiful beach!! We got to see a couple turtles.. here's some pics that I took.

After swimming with the turtles they drove us to the Lagoon Yalku. They fed us a great Authentic Mayan Lunch. We had Pulled Pork cooked in banana leaves and a Chicken.

By this time I wanted a nap.. but we had to snorkel the lagoon. Let's just say I was even slower by this time. I thought the Lagoon was gorgeous but I didn't like swimming in it. The temperature is changes dramatically in different areas and I much preferred the warmer water. Still a gorgeous place to visit.

After this long day.. they drove us back to our resorts and the hubby and I knocked out!

We ended up having a late dinner at the buffet... caught the end of the night show.. then headed back to the room. We're not really party animals as you can see.

End of DAY 5

Well now I'm really confused. Do they mix in their chairs in with the Wah Wah chairs? All the servers were wearing Wah Wah t-shirts and I pretty sure I ordered from their menu.
I thought I was in the Wah Wah 'area' but not knowing the area as well as you guys.. I could be totally wrong. But, he was saying Wah Wah the whole time.

I'm surprised I'm not in the background of any of your pictures - we had very similar vacations. From Boston on the 1st, staying in town (we stayed @ Playa Palms), Akumal on Wednesday, home Thursday. One of these days I'll get my pictures uploaded and do a trip report. Loving yours!

I admire how easy-going you are. If I ordered pancakes, and they didn't tell me they were out of syrup until they set them in front of me, I would have been ticked. Pancakes without syrup? Pffftttt.

I think it was because I was on vacation and in great spirits.. Trust me.. Back at home I would've caused a ruckus. Haha maybe.

Anniversary Day

Ok.. where did I leave off?? Ahhh... Our anniversary

DAY 6

From this day forward..I apologize now if it's boring.. we literally just relaxed and took in the "beach" and pool.

We started the day off with the breakfast buffet at the resort..

The breakfast buffet was probably the only buffet we really liked.. the lunch, snack bars, and dinner were much all the same. We tried to reserve the restaurants but we were only given 2 reservations for our short trip.

After breakfast we walked over to the "beach" area and a long the way we needed to take pics of the parrots. My husband loves birds.. ME.. NOT SO MUCH.

I kept my distance... I was scared he was going to peck my eyes out. hahaah

One thing's for sure.. The resort is really beautiful and you can tell everyone works hard to keep it clean. Certain areas need work but it's a really beautiful place.

The temperature of the water reminded me a lot of the lagoon we went to the day before. It was warm in certain areas and in others a bit chilly. I don't really like that too much.. I much preferred the pool or an actual beach. I swam around for a bit and it was cool with all the fish swimming around you. I thought we would hurt them but they're quick!

After a spending most of the day sunbathing, drinking, relaxing.. we got some lunch from the lunch buffet. We walked back to room and napped before dinner.

We had a special reservation for our anniversary at their Fish restaurant.

We got all dolled up..

The dinner was great!! The ambiance in the restaurant is very romantic.. you're right over the water and the lighting is dark.
After we finished eating they surprised us with an anniversary cake.. I wish I could've eaten more than just a few bites.. I was just too full!!

After dinner we went over to the night shows and then... well. it was great night! hehe...

End of DAY 6

Day 7

We took it easy this day... it was just another day of exploring the resort and relaxing at the pool.

We were told there was a small section where you can see a few ruins.. so we headed that way.

I'll post more pictures and talk less..

There were deer at the resort as well... strange? I just thought it was.. lol They were really cute though.

We took pictures with the resort photographer. I wanted to take pics with the monkey but he was the day we were leaving More birds. haha

We really didn't do anything else this day.. we were leaving the next morning. We just relaxed some more...

End of Day 7

Day 8 - GOING HOME!!!

We booked our transfer back to the airport with the playa.info private transfer. They were on time and the driver was very friendly. We would highly recommend them.

Goodbye Occidental Grand Xcaret!!

Boston here come!!

Not as pretty as the Riviera Maya that's for sure!!

THE END.
